We are looking for a highly qualified Project Team Leader to join our DRC office in Tunisia.

Who are we?

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded in 1956 that works in more than 30 countries throughout the world. DRC fulfils its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected and vulnerable populations – refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world; and by advocating on behalf of conflict-affected populations internationally. DRC has been working in the Maghreb region, including Libya, Tunisia and Algeria since 2011.   

 The Danish Refugee Council in Libya is in the process of establishing a 4Mi network of monitors and implement migration flow monitoring in multiple locations throughout the country. 4Mi – the Mixed Migration Monitoring Mechanism Initiative – was first implemented by the Regional Mixed Migration Secretariat (RMMS) in Nairobi for the Horn of Africa region. 4Mi data gathering mechanism ensures an improved data collection and enable an enhanced authoritative analysis of migration flows in the region. Interviews will be conducted with migrants, asylum seekers and host communities within Libya. 4MI will, in large part, be responsible for the development of knowledge products that place the Libyan situation in the larger context of protection concerns faced by migrants and asylum seekers throughout Africa. 

 

About the job

Support a short-duration research project within migrant populations in Tunis. The goals of the Team Leader are to help recruit research assistants, facilitate training, provide logistical support and assistance to field data collection.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Successful completion of training modules as outlined by the Project Coordinator.
  • Oversee successful completion & upload of 2 to 4 migrant interviews by each research assistant every workday. Excellent leadership would be demonstrated through quality results, rather than quantity.
  • Daily communication with Project Coordinator. More frequent communication may be requested depending on need. Written support will also be provided to the Project Coordinator.
  • Provide logistics support to research assistants
  • Ensure that each research assistant applies training properly

About you

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Demonstrated experience working with youth and migrants
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: calming manner, sociable, can influence people and establish a rapport quickly
  • Understanding of smartphone applications, including android-based smart phone settings and applications
  • Able to solve problems quickly and efficiently while maintaining positive atmosphere of support
  • Demonstrates empathy for research assistants and works alongside each assistant for at least one interview per week

Required qualifications  

  • Completed university baccalaureate in social sciences: sociology, anthropology, psychology, economics, demography
  • French – Fluent (reading, writing
  • English – Fluent (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Arabic – Proficient
 

We offer

DRC will offer the successful applicant a 7 weeks contract. You must be available to start work from 21 Of August 2017 and be willing and able to work in Tunis, Tunisia.
