UNICEF Supply Division in Copenhagen is seeking a Snr Supply and Logistics Assistant, GS-7 level. The position will be effective from 1 January 2018

This position is located within the Plan & Source unit of the Warehouse and Inventory Management Centre in UNICEF Supply Division, Copenhagen, which supports UNICEF’s work for children by developing relevant policies, providing guidance in the management of the inventory/warehouse to the country offices and manage Supply Division controlled warehouses in Copenhagen and the hubs enabling Supply Division respond to emergencies and regular programme globally.

 

How can you make a difference?

The incumbent will support the Supply and Logistics Manager in the Warehouse and Inventory Management Centre in the replenishment and inventory management of the Copenhagen warehouse and the hubs with an optimal stock levels to meet demand for all standard stock materials maintained in the various SD storage locations and achieving the right balance between optimal service level and cost effective inventory level.

 

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

1. Develops, maintains and monitors the Inventory Management Process in order to ensure an optimum inventory turnover, at the same time maintaining a high customer service level.

 2. Works closely with Country offices, Procurement Centers, Procurement Services and Emergency Coordinating Unit to be able to establish accurate forecasts and makes recommendation for commitment of warehouse funds for replenishment of stocks in Copenhagen warehouse and the hubs.

3. Coordinates with Procurement Centers for expediting of warehouse replenishment orders, and make recommendation for change in mode of shipment or procurement from whole sellers to meet the demand.

4. Reviews demand patterns and works closely with Procurement Centers and makes recommendation in assessing the need for changes in LTA patterns.

5. Supports Supply and Logistics Manager in the improvement of the systems, testing of the new improvement initiatives and reports.

6. Manages Production Orders for all standard kits in the warehouse

7. Performs any other duties as requested by the Centre Chief.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

 Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary education
  • Relevant courses in logistics and planning processes
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional work experience in the area of inventory management.
  • Work experience in Procurement and Logistics function
  • Strong knowledge of SAP, including coding and programming
  • IT super user level skills preferably in MM and PP modules
  • Fluency in English
  • Residency and valid work permit for Denmark

 

Desirables:

  • Working knowledge of another official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian)
  • Knowledge of Danish
