We are looking for a qualified candidate who is willing to commit to rules and regulations and the DRC code of conduct. 
 
Who are we? 
Danish Refugee Council is a leading protection agency pursuing our mandate to protect and promote durable solutions to displacement-affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), DRC apply a regional approach with operational presence in Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and Iraq.      
Present in Iraq since 2003, DRC is today operational in the Kurdish governorates, in and around Baghdad and in several South-Central governorates. Focused both on the influx of Syrian refugees and the current IDP crisis, DRC is providing assistance in a range of sectors including Camp Coordination and Camp Management, Protection, Livelihoods, Emergency Response (including food security, cash, and NFIs), WASH, Shelter and Mine Action. The Iraq programme presently employs some 450-national staff and 45 international staff, and is growing to meet new, emerging needs associated with ongoing and recent conflict in multiple locations 
  
About the job: 
The Guard is to provide entry point management of Office, monitor the overall safety situation and implement safety regulations and safety plans as designated by the National Safety Assistant in Diyala. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure security of DRC staff and property. 
Secure DRC facilities including all the vehicles parked in the area.  
Patrol facilities regularly when it is not occupied, especially at night.
Control access to DRC facilities Assist in loading/unloading vehicles. 
Assist in keeping the facility and street outside clean – remove rubbish etc. 
Enforce DRC’s no weapons policy.
Welcome visitor; ensuring the visitor’s book is signed; and direct the visitor to the office  
Switch on/off generator and water pumps as required. 
Report any security incident to the Project Coordinator.
Follow DRC security guidelines. 
Any other assignment by the line manager.
 
Rules: 
Be on time for your shift. 
No sleeping on duty.
Remain vigilant at all times and ready to react. 
Behave in accordance with DRC low profile security rules. 
No personal visitors while you are working on shift.
All visitors to be respected and treated fairly. 
Be clean and presentable for your duties. 
No guard is allowed to use abusive language. 
Do not leave your post without permission, even if then next shift has not arrived. 
Any guard engaging in a criminal act will be automatically dismissed. 
 
About you:
To be successful in this role you must have:  
Previous experience in Safety field. 
Proven team player and leader. 
Fluent in spoken Arabic and English is an advantage 
Good communication and negotiation skills. 
Able to lead by example. 
Excellent standard of dress and personal appearance (according to visibility profile). 
Familiarity with humanitarian principles and practices an advantage

Moreover, the following qualifications are preferred: 
2 years previous experience in a similar position. 
Strong organizational skills 
Ability to prioritize large and changeable workload 
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team 
Able to work independently and energetically 
Experience of working with UN or Non-Governmental Organizations. 
Understanding of gender, protection and human rights 
 
We offer:
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months’ contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 1 October and be willing and able to work in Diyala.
