Created by UN Women, the HeForShe solidarity movement for gender equality provides a systematic approach and targeted platform on which men and boys can engage and become change agents towards the achievement of gender equality. HeForShe invites men and boys to build on the work of the women’s movement as equal partners.

Under direction from the Global Head of the initiative, HeForShe is looking for a Communications Analyst who will be responsible for supporting the development and executing goal-oriented strategies based on audience research, message framework, and core content to the increase brand awareness. The Communications Analyst will be both familiar with how to manage the press / media in preparation for and during events as well as a talented writer with a knack for crafting compelling content while balancing style and substance. Functional Responsibilities

Develop engaging and compelling content for a variety of audiences in support of the initiatives objectives

  • Leverage knowledge of marketing communications strategy across all channels including print, web, social media, mobile and video

Support the HeForShe team in engaging key stakeholders and influencers in the press / media

  • Map out key media and press stakeholders for projects and programmes under the HeForShe initiative and ensure the right level of engagement from such stakeholders is sustained or improved upon

Drives the development of content strategy

  • Researches, writes, edits, and publishes materials (including speeches) for digital platforms that are captivating and SEO friendly
  • Uses working knowledge of SEO and tactics to improve website traffic generation
  • Uses of Creative digital and print marketing tools including dynamic emails, websites, blog posts, images, and video that enhance marketing efforts

Enforce brand tone and voice guidelines for all digital content and copy

  • Guarantees the quality of site, email and digital content to ensure copy, images, hyperlinks, and other assets, meet branding guidelines and are fully functional
  • Assumes accountability for accuracy and integrity of content

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:
  • A first university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) in Communications, Politics, Economics, Gender, International Relations or similar is required.

Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in communications, social media, press relations or similar is required
  • In depth knowledge and experience of working with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) is required. 
  • Experience working for or familiarity with the UN system is a preference 
Language:
  • Fluency in Spoken and Written English is required. Knowledge of another official UNOPS language is an asset.

Background information- ECR

Based in Geneva, the Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (ECR) supports UNOPS offices throughout the region through: management, financial and programmatic oversight of global and country-specific portfolios, clusters and operations centres, including hosting services; fund and management advisory services; project implementation; procuring goods and services; and managing human resources.

ECR ensures that projects are executed to the highest standards, providing a shared knowledge base and ensuring that best practices and lessons learned are disseminated between business units and projects across the entire region.

 ECR strategy is to:

  • Strengthen UNOPS role in operationalizing the Sustainable Development Goals with particular emphasis on health, environment and economic development.
  • Position UNOPS in the Balkan sub-region, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
  • Strengthen the implementation of ECR global and regional programmes, with revitalized partnerships in infrastructure, procurement and project management.

ECR operates global portfolios from offices in Geneva, Brussels and New York, and country-specific programmes from its operations and project centres located in Eastern Europe and Central Asian countries.

Background Information - Development Group Cluster

Based in the New York, the UNOPS Development Group Cluster supports diverse partners with their peacebuilding, humanitarian and development operations. For example, within the United Nations Development Programme, the Cluster works with the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support and the Office of South-South Cooperation.

The cluster also supports the United Nations Secretariat, as well as a broadening community of other New York-based United Nations organizations in the delivery of project management and implementation services
