Join our team to oversee regional and country office web site build, support and training requests for web users of the unicef.org ecosystem for over 150 countries. This role will provide strategic guidance and implement the training and support aspects of our digital platforms. You will advocate for user’s needs, lead the creation and execution of a training curriculum and implementation plan for global, regional, and country sites.

The Digital Strategy Section within the Division of Communication comprises Web, Social Media and Digital Governance and Platform teams working together to create compelling public-facing content and to provide digital services within the organization. Through multiple platforms and in multiple languages, the Digital Strategy Section draws attention to the many facets of UNICEF’s work, encouraging public support, participation and action, as well as ensuring greater transparency and accountability. Web stories, blog posts, photo essays, Facebook posts, Twitter campaigns, and videos for distribution via UNICEF.org, UNICEF Connect, YouTube, news media and other outlets and platforms are all a part of our digital storytelling.

How can you make a difference?

Join our team to oversee regional and country office web site build, support and training requests for web users of the unicef.org ecosystem for over 150 countries. This role will provide strategic guidance and implement the training and support aspects of our digital platforms. You will advocate for user’s needs, lead the creation and execution of a training curriculum and implementation plan for global, regional, and country sites. 

  • Lead field office website builds on the unicef.org ecosystem and web content management system (Web CMS) using global templates
  • Coordinate between Regional and Country Offices and our information technology colleagues to lead project planning, create project briefs, document requirements and scope for site builds.
  • Create and maintain training documentation and curriculum on global digital content management systems, assess the effectiveness of the curriculum and adapt to evolving user needs.
  • Train and maintain a network of “super users” to act as regional focal points for training purposes, and maintain training capacity and network of trainers for surge capacity.
  • Maintain a global support desk and ticketing system to collect and track support requests.
  • Provide basic production support to users, troubleshoot platform issues and properly route technical requests to the technical team.
  • Manage users, user groups and user roles on global digital platforms. Assess minimum requirements for user access to global digital platforms, and to make sure standards of work are met in compliance with UNICEF’s digital governance.
  • Coordinate with technical team regarding platform availability during maintenance, testing and upgrades, and notify users accordingly.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in communications, web development, new media, development, international communications, education or other fields related to this position. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional
    2 years qualifying extensive training and experience in digital communications, training, support and project management may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • Five years of relevant work experience in professional web support work at the national and international levels.
  • Knowledge of the following technical areas: enterprise-level content management systems, (Drupal based preferred), working knowledge of HTML/CSS and front-end content production, analytics, and enterprise-level ticketing systems.
  • Knowledge of other CMS, such as WordPress or OpenText RedDot is desirable
  • Experience with group and individual training methodologies and delivery, including producing e-courses and face-to-face training sessions.
  • Fluency in English is required, additional knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is preferred.

Remarks:

This position is classified as “rotational,” which means the incumbent is expected to rotate to another duty station upon completion of their tour of duty.
