UNOPS Brazil is responsible for managing strategic and operational risks associated with the countries’ portfolio of engagements, developing and delivering cost-effective services contributing to partners' sustainable results and achievements of UNOPS management results.  In the country, UNOPS has been making significant strides in developing the area of advisory services in infrastructure. This includes management contracts and providing consultancy services to support the national and local governments to address the challenge on how to improve infrastructure investments, considering costs reduction, resiliency, and sustainability.

UNOPS Brazil operates as an integral part of the Latin America and Caribbean Regional management structure. It reports to the Operational Hub Director who provides direction and guidance. 

The incumbent for this post will act as a PRINCE2 training facilitator, who will be responsible for structuring project management courses in Portuguese to develop BRPC partners and associates.


Functional Responsibilities

Under the guidance and supervision of a Project Manager, the project management specialist/instructor is mainly responsible for:

  • Structuring and developing project management training for partners and associates, including course syllabus, schedule, assessment tools and budget;
  • Assessing participants level of Project Management knowledge before and after training;
  • Providing inputs to Project Managers, according to PRINCE2 methodology, on the design and management of other partners and associates projects;
  • Identifying and analyzing the connections between project management/MSP methodologies and other partner projects; 
  • Advising BRPC on its projects to support capacity building in project management
  • Advising and assisting in the creation of project management units in the organizational structure of the partner, when necessary.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

a)      Education

  • Master's degree in Administration or a related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Administration or a related area with two years of additional relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of a Master's Degree. 
  • A PRINCE2 practitioner certificate is mandatory.
  • Certificate in MSP is an asset.

b)      Experience

  • Between 2-4 years of experience (depending on the level of education) in training and development related to the PRINCE2 methodology

c)       Language

  • Fluency in written and oral Portuguese is required.
  • Working knowledge of English or Spanish is required.

Contract type, level and duration

Contract type: Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA)

Contract level: Local ICA Specialist 9
Contract modality: Retainer

Contract duration: 6 months with possibilities of extension depending on availability of funds and satisfactory performance. 

The contractor will be remunerated based on a daily fee and according to the number of full days worked to complete the assigned duties. The expected total number of days to work will be 60 days.All required products must be delivered according to schedule. The specific dates will be coordinated with the UNOPS team.
