Finance Coordinator in Field Operations - Head Office

Role and responsibilities

The Field Operations department manages annually around 30 projects with a total budget of approx. 30 M NOK. The main donors are NMFA/NORAD and Sida, but the portfolio also consists of Dfid, ECHO, UNHCR, OFDA, Wellspring and Dubai Cares (possibly DEVCO). The purpose of the Finance Coordinator is to implement the delegated responsibility from the Head of Strategy, Information and Support unit, of supporting budget holders in financial management of grants.

Generic responsibilities

• Implement NRC’s financial systems and procedures.

• Support and train budget holders in adhering to NRC financial policies, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements.

• Prepare and submit financial reports.

• Ensure proper filing of all financial support documents.

• Support the department staff in procedures and facilitate necessary team trainings.

• Monitor budgets and cash flow.

• Identify gaps in and contribute to improve financial systems

• Provide guidance on FO donor financial rules and regulations to budget holders in FO.

• Responsible for producing required analysis and reports as assigned by Department Director and Heads of Sections

Specific responsibilities

• Support the FO department staff with budget responsibility in maintaining budget control of their projects and monitoring cash flow.

• Prepare and submit financial reports for donors and budget holders in the department.

• Support budget holders in financial compliance (e.g. accounting, monitoring and reporting) according to procedures.

• Prepare financial reports and analysis to the Field Operations Management Team upon request.

Competencies

Generic professional competencies:

• Understanding and experience using Agresso is an advantage

• Experience from working as a Finance Coordinator or Controller

• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

• Fluency in English, both written and verbal       

• Higher education, minimum Bachelor in Economics or other relevant fields
