Who are we?

 

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading global displacement agency working in 40 countries, in conjunction with our specialist mine action unit, Danish Demining Group (DDG), which has been working in Afghanistan since 1999. DRC commenced operations in Afghanistan in 2011 and is today a leading actor in humanitarian response with membership of the Humanitarian Country Team and recent high-level representation at the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan. DRC-DDG Afghanistan is part of DRC’s Central & South-West Asia (CASWA) region covering Afghanistan, Iran and Paki-stan. Within an overall strategic framework of responding to emergencies, seeking solutions to pro-tracted displacement; and tackling root causes, DRC-DDG Afghanistan’s current programming encompasses: mine action, emergency response, protection, armed violence reduction, and livelihoods. With more than 500 fulltime national and international staff members, offices in Kabul, Jalalabad, Kandahar, Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif and a portfolio in 2016 of USD 13 million, DRC-DDG Afghanistan is one of the largest INGOs operating in Afghanistan.


About the job:


The Emergency Field Officer is part of the Emergency Field Team and he/she is responsible for the implementing DRC Afghanistan’s Emergency Field project activities. A key member of our regional program teams, the Emergency Field Officer needs to combine his/her experience of emergency Field programming with good assessment and monitoring capabilities in order to meet the project objectives. The Emergency Field Officer works under the supervision of the Senior Emergency Program Officer, and reporting to him. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Rapid needs assessment
  • Beneficiary selection process
  • Emergency Field distribution
  • Planning and implementation of activities
  • Data collection and analysis both electronically and hard copy
  • Post distribution monitoring
  • Improving access in uncovered area according to DRC policy
  • Produce basic reports on implementation and monitoring activities
  • Travel within and out the Region to support the emergency field all over the Country
  • When requested, join a DRC flying team and be ready to be re-allocated for short period and with short notice outside the normal area of operation (within the country)

     

    About you

     

    To be successful in this role you must have:

     

    Education:

     

  • High school education as a minimum
  • Higher education preferred in development or related social science

     

    Experience and Qualification:

 

  • At least 3 years’ relevant work experience for a humanitarian organization

  • Good understanding of displacement issues of both internally displaced and refugees
  • Good experience of working directly with Afghan communities and local authorities
  • Experience of implementing emergency Field projects
  • Monitoring and evaluation experience and/or experience of survey and assessment work
  • Good communication skills
  • Good written and spoken English will be considered an asset;
  • Solid computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and report writing ability

 

Languages:

 

 

  • Excellent understanding of local languages (Dari & Pashtu)
  • Good written and spoken English will be consider an asset

We offer:

 

  • DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract till the end of 2017, renewable dependent on both funding and performance.
  • Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff. This position will be placed at salary Grade D, level 1, basic 745 USD.
