Human Rights Education Technology Advisor Duration: MATERNITY COVER, 12 Month Fixed Term Contract, February 2018 - February 2019 Location: London

Amnesty International's International Secretariat is looking for an experienced colleague in Education Technology and project management to scale up Amnesty's Massive Open Online Courses.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Access to human rights education creates the foundation for a rights respecting society, for (re)claiming rights. It underpins Amnesty's human rights work. You will manage one of Amnesty's HRE key projects, the Massive Open Online Courses to ensure access to quality human rights education for a large number of people. 100,000+ people registered to our first courses on edX to learn about human rights and how to get active. The ambition is to increase the number of learners in the next years to 1 million people.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Project management for each MOOC, including MOOC budget
  • Manage relationships with MOOC platform partners like edX
  • Collaboration with national and regional Amnesty entities as part of the project
  • Close collaboration with Amnesty's course developers
  • Promotion of courses
  • support in managing suppliers
  • support and accompanying language versions

ABOUT YOU

With experience of working in human rights education, you must have first-hand knowledge and experience in managing global projects, experience with MOOCs or related EdTech areas. You have substantial experience of setting up and managing projects in the educational space as well as implementing human rights education programmes and projects. You must also have experience and an understanding of membership organizations, and the capability both to work on your own initiative and as a member of a large and diverse team, often under pressure. Experience in working remotely is advantageous.

You have background in Education Technology and project management with the ability to identify opportunities to ensure impactful work in this field. You have demonstrated understanding of human rights education methodology applied to MOOCs and an understanding of a participative approach and experience-based learning. Awareness of the implications of cultural diversity for effective delivery of online courses.

Demonstrated ability to analyse complex global and regional situations in order to determine information needed; identify key stakeholders, alternative courses of action; impact of specific decisions and to devise creative solutions based on findings. You will have excellent written and verbal English.
