You will work on designing and initiate implementation of a capacity building plan of senior staff in country and regional offices. The main focus of the capacity building plan is to equip senior staff with the knowledge and skills to drive the work with the private sector in their respective contexts. 

How can you make a difference?

Design the capacity building plan of senior staff

  • Finalize the design of the capacity building plan consulting with relevant colleagues including Human Resources, other relevant sections within PFP, Regional Offices as well as selected people who have participated in PFP orientations in the past.
  • Consult with participants of the orientation to be carried out end of February 2018 to gather their needs and interests. Organize engaging webinar.
  • Roll out the mentoring programme to be offered to all senior staff.
  • Roll out the randomized coffee trials among senior staff.
  • Ensure systematic briefings of senior staff on the private sector in the given context.
  • Put in place a system for CO Fundraising Managers and RSCs to follow when onboarding new senior staff.
  • Contribute to writing a paper on the leadership success factors when working with the private sector.

Prepare the PFP orientation for senior staff to be held end of February 2018

  • Identify key speakers for the modules, including potentially external speakers (such as corporate partner).
  • Put in place intranet page and ensure content is uploaded as needed
  • Ensure together with the admin assistant that all logistical arrangements are in place
  • Research on and propose appropriate methodologies to use during the orientation
  • Gather videos and quotes from senior staff experienced to work with the private sector.

Lessons learned

  • Analyze the evaluations of the PFP orientation and write up lessons learned
  • Ensure that all relevant files (relevant communication, powerpoints etc.) are available in the teamsite for future orientations to be carried out.

Reporting

You are expected to work independently under the supervision of the Policy Specialist in the Country Office Development and Support unit.

Qualifications and Experience of Successful Candidate:

  • Education: Bachelor level university degree in Social Sciences or a related field. Master degree preferred.
  • Work Experience: Some practical professional work experience (including internships) with UNICEF.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English. Strong writing skills.

Technical Knowledge:  

  • Knowledge of UNICEF structure and in particular the Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division.  
  • Knowledge of how UNICEF country offices, regional offices and PFP works and what the Country Office Development and Support unit’s role is.
  • Experience on carrying out capacity building workshops and/or facilitating trainings.
