in Bujumbura

The position is to be filled in January / February 2018 for 39 h/week with a contract duration of 6 months. The place of work will be Bujumbura, with frequent travels to Kirundo and Ngozi provinces (Burundi).

Welthungerhilfe started operations in Burundi in 2001 with emergency assistance interventions in the province of MUYINGA. Currently, we have 6 ongoing projects (October 2017), two of which are implemented by local partners.

We are mainly based in the north of Burundi, in the provinces of NGOZI and KIRUNDO. Since arriving in Burundi, we have completed 38 projects worth more than 60 million Euros. The country office is in the capital Bujumbura and has a total of 8 employees. We also have an office in Ngozi with 20 employees and another in Kirundo with 16 employees. The programme of Welthungerhilfe in Burundi aims at  Contributing to improving people's livelihoods and their right to adequate food while respecting the protection of fragile ecosystems.

Your responsibilities

  • Providing support in the development of a strategy for the implementation of the LANN+( Linking Agriculture and Natural Resource Management towards Nutrition Security)concept in Burundi
  • Analyzing existing approaches in current Welthungerhilfe and other actors’ projects (Ministry of agriculture, Ministry of Health, NGOs, UNICEF, WFP, FAO, etc) that can be included into the Welthungerhilfe-Burundi programme and strategy.
  • Analyzing and elaborating the preconditions of the implementation plan of the LANN + strategy for Burundi
  • Providing support in the designing of methodological tools (adapted to the Burundian context) for the implementation of LANN+ activities in cooperation with the project teams and with sectoral units at Welthungerhilfe headquarters in Bonn (Sector Unit and Communication / Media Unit)

Your profile

  • Student of a Bachelor or Master program in Agricultural Sciences, Nutrition, Environment or other relevant field Good level of spoken written French (working language) as well as fluent in English and German.
  • Willingness to spend close 50% of the working time in rural areas In possession of a valid driving license B
