The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

NRC is seeking experienced humanitarian professionals with expertise in education and youth programming for potential short- and or/long-term positions within the middle eastern region.  Successful candidates will join our surge roster and may be contacted periodically as relevant opportunities become available.

For the Education roster, our ideal candidate holds a university degree and a minimum of three years of relevant experience.  They have a record of successful design and/or implementation of education programs in an emergency setting.  They are comfortable working in potentially volatile environments and are knowledgeable about the complexities of operating in refugee and IDP populations. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential; knowledge of Arabic is also an asset.

They have experience designing proposals and developing and managing education projects in line with organizational strategies and donor requirements. They will have focused on capacity building of staff and colleagues, implemented effective advocacy campaigns related to education programming and integrated protection priorities in to programming.  Knowledge of financial management, monitoring and evaluation tools is also essential.
