Under the general supervision of the Communication Officer, assists in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating communication activities to support the country office program. The main objectives of the post are to get children and women issues into the public domain through content management of the website and social media accounts, and mobilize public support to child rights, enhance brand awareness, and support digital fundraising efforts through technical expertise and content management.

Purpose for the job:

Under the general supervision of the Communication Officer, assists in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating communication activities to support the country office program. The main objectives of the post are to get children and women issues into the public domain through content management of the website and social media accounts, and mobilize public support to child rights, enhance brand awareness, and support digital fundraising efforts through technical expertise and content management.

 

Summary of key functions and responsibilities.

Support to digital and social media channels development, planning and execution.

  • Contributes to the development of the strategic UNICEF digital presence in Bulgaria, with specific emphasis on financial and non- financial engagement of supporters. 
  • Maintains UNICEF in Bulgaria website through web-based content management system on a daily basis and works to ensure key deadlines are met for the dissemination of time-sensitive content. Ensures search engine optimization. 
  • Writes, gathers, edits content (text, images, audio, video, and etc.) and adapts for web and social media.
  • Maintains a web and social media calendar of content themes and all upcoming coverage schedules according to the calendar.
  • Maintains UNICEF CO digital gallery (pictures and videos). Ensures all materials has the specific documentation for usage rights.
  • Assists in the coordination of the local web-based content with the regional office and headquarters.

Support to monitoring and reporting of digital and social media results.

  • Monitors budgets and financial expenditures of the digital and social media area, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations, keeping supervisor informed and advised on actions for decision/follow up.
  • Prepares and maintains records, documents and control plans for the monitoring of project/programme implementation.
  • Monitor the digital and social media channels results and provides reports.
  • Maintain relations with web support and digital marketing agencies. Ensures quality control of the deliverables.

Support in resource mobilization.

  • Compiles and organizes data and information to assist in the preparation of periodic or ad-hoc reports relating to country office and donors to support the office.
  • Supports the processing of contracts for consultants and external partners pertaining to the digital area.

Support in Knowledge Management and capacity building.

  • Supports capacity development trainings and provides support to other sections in need of understanding better how digital and social media plays a role in the context of the CO or world trends.
  • Map relevant bloggers and influencers and create relevant linkages.

 

Required qualification of the successful candidate.

Education

Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the work of the organization.

Work Experience

A minimum of 6 years of content management as well as maintaining and coordination of digital and social media channels. 

Language Proficiency 

Fluency in English and in the local language of the duty station required.
