WFP has been present in Armenia since late 1993. WFP/Armenia is currently seeking a Volunteer to support the Country Office (CO), in the framework of WFP Voluntary Assistance Programme, with the recent scaled-up administration-related activities.

Brief Project Description:

The WFP School Feeding Project in Armenia began in 2010 providing school meals in the most food insecure areas, gradually increasing the coverage throughout all provinces in Armenia to support the Government of Armenia in mitigating the severe economic and social impacts of the global financial crisis. During 2015-2017, WFP handed over the programme in four provinces to the Government of Armenia. Currently the WFP-administered programme provides hot school meals to 60,000 primary schoolchildren in six provinces comprising 40 percent of the primary student population in Armenia. The programme also distributes take-home food rations to 1,700 kitchen helpers in the 571 target schools.

The Government-led programme covers around 30,000 schoolchildren in all 340 schools of these four provinces and operates exclusively through cash transfers (CBT) to school administrators.

In Armenia, school feeding has two objectives:

1. To support the food security and education of children through the provision of school meals, and
