UNOPS hosts the Stop Tuberculosis Partnership Secretariat (STBP) as of 1 January 2015, in Geneva, Switzerland. The vision of the Stop TB Partnership is to realize the goal of elimination of Tuberculosis (TB) as a public health problem and, ultimately, to obtain a world free of TB by ensuring that every TB patient has access to effective diagnosis, treatment and cure; stopping transmission of TB; reducing the inequitable social and economic toll of TB; and developing and implementing new preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic tools and strategies. The Stop Partnership is uniquely positioned to support the development and further implementation by partners of the current and future Global Plan, acting as a coordinator and catalyst for the range of partners engaged in the fight against TB.

Background Information - Job-specific

The Stop TB Partnership’s TB REACH initiative is a multi-lateral funding mechanism which provides a grants to partners for testing innovative strategies and technologies aimed at increasing the number of people diagnosed and treated for TB, decreasing the time to appropriate treatment and improving treatment success rates.  It combines fast-track, results-based financing and rigorous, external monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to produce results, so other donor agencies, the private sector and/or national governments can scale-up successful approaches and maximize their own investments. Stop TB also is supporting the Global Fund as part of the Strategic Initiative to find the missing people with TB supporting countries to improve their national responses to improving case detection.

The consultant’s report to the Innovations & Grants (I&G) Team, and serve as focal points on various short- and long-term assignments which are focused on producing and designing promotional materials that highlight the work of the I&G team, TB REACH grantees and work in countries under the Global Fund Strategic Initiative.


Functional Responsibilities

Innovations & Grants (I&G) design and photography consultants represent TB REACH and the Stop TB Partnership. These consultants provide support and assistance to TB REACH staff, grantees, and partner organizations by producing high-quality multimedia products and designs that highlight the work of TB REACH. The scope of assignments may include, but are not limited to:

  • Documenting advancements of TB REACH grantees through photo-journalistic essays;
  • Collaborating with TB REACH to create and design high-quality communications materials;
  • Supporting TB REACH in developing multimedia materials around the initiative’s priorities in improving TB case detection, treatment, and reporting

Work/assignment arrangement:

  • Deliverables will be defined by a specific scope of work for each assignment.
  • The consultant will be engaged as needed. The consultant will either be required to work from home or will be deployed to countries where the technical assistance is required. Given the ad-hoc nature of the work, the consultant should not resign from any current position. The consultant will receive travel expenses when traveling on assignments outside of the duty station.

Education

  • Advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in media relations, communications, journalism, creative writing, photography, international relations or relevant disciplines.

  • A first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent) in the above subject areas combined with two additional years of relevant experience to substitute for the master's degree.





Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in media relations, communications, journalism, creative writing, photography, international relations or relevant disciplines;
  • International experience producing video or photography projects;
  • Extensive experience in the usage of media technology, social media for public information/advocacy;
  • Cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.

Desirable

  • Experience in (multi/social) media campaigns;
  • Basic understanding of TB burden and interest in global health.

Languages

  • Working knowledge of written and spoken English is required.
  • Working knowledge of French, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Hindi/Urdu, Bahasa Indonesia, or other languages spoken in high TB burden countries is desirable.
