Project Manager ESUPS (m/f)

in Bonn

The postition is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of two years. Employment location will be Bonn, in Germany.

As Project Manager Emergency Supplies and Prepositioning Strategy (ESUPS) your aim will be to facilitate communication amongst stakeholders on common relief items. Also you will promote the advantages of prepositioning and commodity sharing, analyse quantities and locations of prepositioned items, strengthen pre-existing as well as establish mechanisms and advocate for the sharing, loaning and borrowing of stocks. Furhtermore you will improve preparedness by strengthening prepositioning information management services and drafting prepositioning strategies.

Your responsibilities

Under the direction of the ESUPS Steering Group and the line management/supervision of the Humanitarian Director of Welthungerhilfe, the ESUPS project manager will lead and coordinate the delivery of the projects outputs.

The wide range of tasks will include but is not limited to:

  • Data collection and review of data available from existing databases
  • liaising with relevant global and regional actors to encourage effective sharing of necessary data for case studies of current prepositioning
  • Coordination studies and other ESUPS research and outputs
  • Review of relevant documents
  • Significant outreach and advocacy with ESUPS stakeholders to increase interest and buy-in to ESUPS work
  • Provision of substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences
  • Project administration, reporting and accounting with support from Welthungerhilfe HQ
  • Contribution to conceptualization of activities (proposal writing, potential donor outreach)
  • Stay up to date on developments and other potential complementary emergency preparedness initiatives
  • Information management
  • Provide regular updates to the ESUPS Steering Group on the progress of the project
  • Significant travel within Europe and internationally (up to 20%)

Your profile

  • A post-graduate university degree in the fields of logistics, supply chain management or a comparable specialized qualification suitable to the position
  • At least 5 years of progressiveexperience in project management, logistics supply chain and/or directly related field of expertise.
  • Experience in operationalizing of theories, concepts and approaches in supply chain management and humanitarian logistics
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in the English, an additional UN language is an asset
