UNICEF is looking for a seasonal professional for the consultancy assignment to provide technical assistance to update the report on Ethiopia’s national Situation Analysis of Children and Women in Ethiopia.

For every child,

National Equity Situation Analysis of Children and Women (SitAn) 2019 in Ethiopia , provide technical assistance to update the report on Ethiopia’s national Situation Analysis of Children and Women in Ethiopia.

How can you make a difference?

The specific tasks to be performed include but are not limited to the following:

Develop a plan for the technical assistance work and agree on the plan with UNICEF and steering committee members

Identify, review and extract relevant analysis from recent relevant publications

Preparation of first draft report

Preparation of a summary report on research gaps on children and women for each of the sectors

Update regularly MoFEC (during the preparation of TOR, plan, upon completion of first draft and finalization of the report)

Organize a workshop involving all sections and government partners to discuss on the draft research gaps and research questions identified per sector

Organize a meeting with the relevant sections of UNICEF and stakeholders before the finalization of the report

2 weeks

Bimonthly updates to Chief of Social Policy and Evidence for Social Inclusions and Social Policy Specialists

Throughout the contract period

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Masters degree in the Social Sciences (Sociology, Anthropology, Development Studies) or related fields relevant for the assignment;
  • At least 8 years of research and other relevant professional experience is desirable;
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with Human Rights Based Approach to Programming (HRBAP) and the principles of gender mainstreaming and promotion of gender equality; familiarity with the UNICEF Gender Policy is desirable;
  • Proven knowledge and skills on quantitative analysis;Institutional knowledge of the UN and UNICEF;
  • Proven experience in writing analytical papers on children and gender issues;
  • In-depth knowledge of children’s rights, including CRC, CEDAW and other international legal instruments the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD), World Fit for Children (WFFC), and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs);
  • Excellent facilitation and coordination skills and excellent analytical skills;
  • Fluency in English;
  • Proven ability to deliver quality reports/analysis and results in line with established deadlines;
  • Proven experience of having participated previously in a UNICEF SitAn;

The international consultant will be asked to submit 1 sample of previous similar work produced complemented with 1) A cover letter. The cover should indicate relevant experience, availability and daily rate; 2) Resume; 3) Personal History (P11) form.
