Role Overview

Set up, maintain, and provide operational support of the ICT infrastructure (cloud-based wherever possible) which enables users at field locations and headquarters to access ICT tools and applications. Provide end-user guidance and support of ICT tools for them to perform their jobs effectively and efficiently.

Project Overview

Medair Headquarters (HQ) provides operational guidance for country programmes, along with both technical and compassionate support for our relief workers. Within our headquarters and affiliate offices, we are also responsible for promoting the work of Medair to the world, to raise and manage the funds needed to run our life-saving and sustaining programmes and to recruit international and HQ staff.

The ITS department develops a stable and standardized ICT infrastructure in HQ and Medair’s field locations, following the ITS strategy and roadmap.

Key Activity Areas

Support Delivery of Solutions

  • Delivery of IT technical solutions by: feasibility study, testing, validation and implementation of new solutions.
  • Cooperation and supervision of 3rd party vendors.
  • Assessment and implementation of appropriate backup and monitoring solutions ensuring full visibility and recovery of ICT infrastructure.
  • Document solutions and store documentation in shared folders.

 Operations of ICT Infrastructure

  • Provide daily operations of ICT infrastructure with 2nd level troubleshooting.
  • Ensure monitoring, backup and recovery process functionality.
  • Provide regular reporting to management.

Project Management

  • Deliver projects within the agreed budget, timeline, and quality.
  • Manage project stakeholders including HQ, Fields and 3rd party vendors.
  • Monitor project execution progress.
  • Provide regular project reporting to IS management.

End Users Support

  • Provide hardware and software support to Field, HQ, and Affiliate users.
  • Help research, recommend, implement and develop solutions supporting end-user requests.

Solution Awareness

  • Prepare and provide internal training to the user of implemented solutions.
  • Act as a point of contact in case of end-user questions.
  • Management and follow-up of 3rd party vendor questions concerning applications and hardware solutions.

Innovation / Changes

  • The holder of this position is required to get an overview of the performance of existing ICT systems and solution and propose changes to improve systems efficiency.

Qualifications

  • IT education supported by practice in ICT infrastructure. Bachelor degree in IT or computer science desirable. ICT Certifications (OS, Networking, Security) desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written).

Relief & Recovery Orientation Course (ROC)

Experience

  • 3– 5 years of experience in ICT, experience with NGO desirable.
  • Networking: TCP/IP networking, Routing/switching: design, configuration, installation and troubleshooting of routers, switches; Knowledge of protocols and services DNS, DHCP, VLAN, WAN, NAT, SNMP; Troubleshooting and diagnostics of software, hardware, and network problems.
  • Operating systems: Windows Server installation and configuration; Windows Server Virtualization: virtual server management, e.g., Hyper-V; Microsoft Active Directory services.
  • Applications: Supporting MS Office 2010-2016.
  • IP Telephony: Administration of IP telephony systems.
  • Helpdesk: IT end-user support using ticketing systems as Helpdesk function; Software installation, updates on a regular basis; Supporting office equipment.
  • IT Security: Antispam Filters, Firewalls, DPI, Load balancers, Malware detection; certifications.
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
