Its mandate is to secure the cooperation of governments and others in locating and identifying missing persons. Under the overall guidance and supervision of the DNA Analysis, Matching and Reporting Unit Manager, the DNA Analyst duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Maintain capabilities and competencies for genetic analysis and submission of DNA profiles;
  • Conduct and contribute to the DNA matching capabilities of the ICMP;
  • Assist with the development of standard operating procedures and assistance with the support of ICMP’s quality 
    management system;
  • Other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or similar field of science. Graduate degree preferred;
  • Experience with genetic analysis using programs such as GeneMapper IDX, particularly DNA profiles resulting from bone samples;
  • Experience with DNA kinship matching and reporting is an asset;
  • Experience in other areas of the DNA laboratory is an asset;
  • Proficiency in English, fluent in speaking, reading and writing;
  • Strong organizational skills.

Additional requirements:

  • Proficiency of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Proven ability to interact positively with colleagues regardless of culture, nationality or gender.
  • Willingness to work extra hours including on weekends and evenings, when necessary.
