ORGANISATIONAL SETTING

The primary objective of the Programme Department is to create the conditions, platforms and environment through which religious leaders and other actors, in particular policy makers, can engage in constructive dialogue, thus strengthening mutual understanding and respect with the ultimate aim to encourage them to initiate action to bring about change in the policies of religious institutions and governments, at various levels, build mechanisms to facilitate on-going dialogue and action as well as strengthen networks of committed and experienced religious leaders, and other actors in the use of inter-religious dialogue (IRD) for peace and reconciliation in conflict situations in particular.

As part of the Programme Department, Global Practices Hub (GPH) contributes to the fulfilment of KAICIID’s vision by designing and implementing innovative programmes that aim to support international and national institutions and networks in their efforts to advocate for IRD, peace and social coexistence, and bring changes in the policies, as well as to religious institutions and governments. The Social Inclusion of People Seeking Refuge Programme develops tools and provides capacity building to support dialogue skills and integration of people seeking refuge as well as of members of host communities. 

ROLE

Under the supervision of the Chief, GPH the Programme Manager is responsible for further development implementation and management of the Social Inclusion of People Seeking Refuge programme. The role holder will manage the project “Integration through Dialogue” and the establishment, expansion and smooth operation of a regional network of non-governmental and faith-based organizations which support the integration of people seeking refuge.

FUNCTIONS

  • Undertake day-to-day management of the Programme;
  • Design and propose projects ensuring that the needs of the people seeking refuge are addressed and aligned with the host community;
  • Oversee the establishment and operation of the regional network of organizations supporting integration of people seeking refuge;
  • In coordination with the Monitoring and Evaluation Adviser, develop and implement monitoring and evaluation mechanism, including key performance indicators, for the Programme;
  • Prepare and update annual work plan and budget in line with the results-based framework;
  • Prepare projects progress reports against set targets and indicators, with an analysis of evidence of progress towards planned outputs according to schedules, budgets, and inputs;
  • Identify potential opportunities for expansion of Programme activities, prepare concept papers accordingly, initiate pilot activities;
  • Establish and maintain collaboration with other national and international organizations working on social inclusion;
  • Represent KAICIID at workshops, conferences, or other events; 
  • Support the supervisors in engaging the leaders of the European religious institutions in actively contributing to the IRD in the context of People Seeking Refuge Programme;
  • Supervise the “Integration Through Dialogue” Project Coordinator, Dialogue Facilitators and other temporary staff and consultants working for the Programme;
  • Perform any other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced university degree in interreligious studies, sociology, human rights, refugee and migration studies, law, international relations or a similar discipline, preferably coupled with a degree in management;
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in the field of inter-religious and/or inter-cultural dialogue, experience in intergovernmental or international organizations desirable;
  • Very good conceptual and analytical capability, ability to rapidly learn and apply new concepts;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact independently with religious leaders as well as with senior government officials;
  • Experience in working with migrants and refugees desirable;
  • Several years of experience in programme design and project management;
  • Excellent communication and networking skills;
  • Excellent writing skills, with analytical capacity and ability to interpret date, draw statistics from evaluations and synthesize data in preparation of quality reports;
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks by establishing priorities;
  • Receptiveness to feedback, willingness to learn and embrace continuous improvement as part of change management;
  • Commitment to sharing information, contributing to the learning and development of the Centre;
  • Capacity to deal with conflicting priorities and to operate in difficult business environments while delivering high quality work on schedule and within time constraints; ability to work successfully in multicultural teams and across boundaries;

LANGUAGES

English and German proficiency (written and spoken), knowledge of any other major languages desirable, preferably Spanish and/or Arabic.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

KAICIID offers fixed-term contracts of one year with a possibility of extension, depending on the continuing need for the position. Annual net salary for Grade 5 Step 1 is 51492 EUR. Appointments are normally made at Step 1. If eligible, housing and education allowance may also be provided. KAICIID salaries are exempt from taxation in Austria.
