Research professor (TTZAPBOF) in the area of sustainable development and environmental justice

 

Job description

The assignment consists of lecturing duties, scientific research and academic service to society.

During the first five years scientific research will be the main activity:

  • promote and develop research at the Faculty of Law and the Institute of Development Policy (IOB) in the research lines and research topics here proposed by the research group
    • expand and strengthen research in the research group Law & Development of the Faculty of Law in the area of law and sustainable development, with a particular focus on international environmental law and environmental justi
    • strengthen the scientific research in the research line Environment & Sustainable Development at IOB on the analysis of the configuration of actors, processes and policies involved in tackling environmental crises and climate change at the interacting global, national and local leve
  • acquire and manage external funding (national and international).

Profile and requirements

  • You hold degrees in two disciplines, e. a Master in Law and a PhD in development studies or in a related social science discipline, or a Master in development studies or in a related social science discipline and a PhD in Law.
  • At least 2 years of postdoctoral experienc
  • You are able to work in an interdisciplinary environment, to conduct interdisciplinary research and to undertake a critical analysis of the effectiveness of public international law in a context of structural inequali
  • You have an international and outstanding academic C
  • You have an excellent international publication record.
  • You have been successful in attracting external funding for research activiti
  • Your academic qualities comply with the university’s policy.
  • Your teaching corresponds to the university’s educational vision.
  • You have leadership skills (or the potential to develop them).
  • You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative and cooperativ
  • You know or are willing to learn Dutch (obtain a CEFR B2 level within five years). You have a CEFR C1 level of proficiency in English. The University of Antwerp supports international staff members on an integration trajectory and offers tailor-made language coaching in compliance with Flanders’ statutory language regulations.
  • Upon completion of the (TT)ZAPBOF-mandate you will be capable, as regards knowledge of substance and language, to participate in teaching in the Master of Laws at the Faculty of Law and the Advanced Masters of Globalisation and Development and Development Evaluation and Management at IOB.

 

We offer

  • a full-time position as a lecturer in a temporary appointment in tenure track for a term of five years, leading to a permanent appointment as a senior lecturer if assessed favourably. For exact details, check our website.
