Technology and connectivity are rapidly reaching some of the most vulnerable people and places affected by crisis, but they are also increasingly expanding to the services responding to those same crises. As one of the main humanitarian actors, WFP has the opportunity and the obligation to leverage data and technology to better know and serve those in need by digitally transforming the way it works. Such ambition led to a plan aimed at establishing, integrating, and mainstreaming – in the next two years – the core elements of an end-to-end digital business process.
JOB PURPOSE
This role will be instrumental in driving WFP’s digital transformation, with Business Architecture, Digital Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture and Solutions Architecture reporting into this role. This role will report to the Chief of Digital Transformation Services. With Digital Transformation as a key priority for WFP, this will require the organization to shift to a more product & service management focus.
Focused on driving unified, coherent, flexible and market leading standards, this role will ensure continuous alignment between technology and business strategies, while strengthening WFP’s digital future.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
The Chief P5 (Lead - Digital Architecture) will be accountable for the following key duties:
- Oversee the definition and continuous update of Technology Architecture guidelines, standards, and tools;
- Chair the IT Architectural Board, performing IT architectural assessments, reviews, and recommendations;
- Drive the organisation’s Enterprise Architecture, develop baseline and target architectures, identifying new opportunities for technology to enable business change;
- Lead Business Architecture, defining capability maps, assessing technical/business fit and cost-effectiveness of solutions;
- Oversee Solutions Architecture and integration of ERP, web applications, mobile applications; define the reference technology stack and standards for solution acquisition and development;
- Provide guidance to infrastructure architecture, conduct studies and assessments to optimise cost-effectiveness and global support of IT infrastructure;
- Co-lead the assessment, requirements and recommendations for WFP’s ERP roadmap;
- Define product roadmaps, guiding the evolution of solutions in terms of features, technology and integration.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Management or other relevant fields.
Language: Fluency (level C) in English language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or WFP’s working language, Portuguese.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
• A broad, enterprise-wide view of WFP and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance;
• Experience with digital roadmaps and enabling architecture, platforms and solutions to digitally transform an organization;
• Proven experience architecting large digital platforms with modern, open source technologies;
• The ability to apply architectural principles to at the enterprise view to the business solutions view;
• The ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues;
• High caliber negotiation and motivational skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels within and beyond the organisation. Excellent relationship building, collaboration and communication skills;
• A proven record of delivering complex projects whilst working under pressure, managing stakeholder expectations throughout;
