Role overview
Working within the Donor Management Team, this role is responsible for providing ongoing, high quality business intelligence, research and trend analysis regarding international development funding. It is crucial in identifying and consolidating advanced business development intelligence relevant to the VSO global portfolio and in line with VSO's core programme areas, thereby enabling VSO to respond appropriately to new business development opportunities.
Skills, qualifications and experience
Essential Requirements:
* Excellent knowledge of a range of bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors (inc. DFID, USAID, EU, GAC, UN, Nordics, etc) and global foundations, their priorities and ways of working
* In depth experience and understanding of international development - main trends, issues and themes
* Proven ability to provide high quality business intelligence and research related to new opportunities
* Experience of writing quality reports, papers, presentations and briefings - that are engaging and relevant to different target audiences
* Ability to be self-directed, work independently and creatively
* Able to analyse, prioritise complex and large quantities of information
* Ability to influence and negotiate with colleagues
* Excellent communication and presentation skills; experience in developing and delivering information sharing sessions, workshops and briefings
* Excellent organisation skills and strong ability to effectively operate under high pressure environments and to tight deadlines
Qualifications
* Relevant post-graduate qualification or its equivalent
* Significant business development and international development experience
* Experience of working internationally
* 10-20% travel expected
