The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a Senior Research
Associate to lead activities related to Quality Seed Potato Production Using
Aeroponics and Short Duration Potato Varieties at Potato Technology Center,
Shamgarh, Haryana.
About the project:
This is
collaborative project between the Department of Horticulture (DoH) and
CIP/Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI). DOH has excellent facility of
tissue culture and at present producing significant amount of basic and
certified seeds. This project introduces robust early maturing candidate
varieties, develops sustainable formal/informal quality seed production at farm
level and intensify potato in non-seed producing districts to enhance income
though improved productivity.
About the role:
The Research Associate should be driven by the desire
to achieve impact on high quality development interventions in close
coordination with DoH and CPRI. She/he will have overall responsibility for all
aspects of project implementation and reporting. He/she will directly supervise
research assistants and will be based in Haryana, India. The assignment will
include frequent travel to five project districts in Haryana.
Requirements
- Masters or
higher degree in Agronomy, Biology, Agriculture/Social sciences or related
areas.
- At least 8
years of experience in similar positions or coordinating multi-institutional projects.
- Strong
understanding of integrating gender and other social equity considerations into
project design and delivery.
- Experience of
coordinating and technical reporting.
- Advanced written
and oral communication skills in English and fluent in Hindi.
- Good record of
scientific and technical publications.
- Willingness to
travel frequently within Haryana.
