Since 2007, IRC has worked with refugees and other vulnerable populations in Jordan.IRC’s programs in Jordan focuses on urban interventions in the north that address gender-based violence specifically violence against women and girls for Syrian refugees and host community members as well as reproductive health care to Syrian refugees through two clinics based in Ramtha and Mafraq and a primary health care facility in Zaatari refugee camp.Since January 2013, IRC also carries out Child Protection programs in Syrian refugee camps, providing specialized services for the identification, support and protection of unaccompanied children (UAC) and other children at risk.

Job Overview/Summary:

The Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable transport of IRC staff and guests in accordance with programmatic and operational requirements, ensuring that IRC vehicles are appropriately maintained; and providing support to logistics and administration functions. The Drive reports to the Health Manager Azraq.

Major Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include:

  • The safe transportation of IRC personnel.
  • The safe transportation of IRC materials.
  • The care and maintenance of IRC vehicles and their accessories.

ExpectedDeliverables

  • Strict adherence to the IRC’s vehicle policies and procedures, including the use of seatbelts by all passengers.
  • Daily and pre-long distance vehicle checks. Accurate upkeep of the vehicle’s log sheet.
  • Maintaining the vehicle clean, fuelled and mechanically sound.
  • Inspecting and maintaining all vehicle accessories.
  • Advising the Transport manager of pending inspections, insurance renewal or any defects or problems.

Qualifications

Education:

Secondary school, or high diploma

Work Experience:

  • Approximately two years of experience.
  • No road safety-related fines or convictions Thorough knowledge of road rules and regulations
  • Skills in routine vehicle maintenance and minor repair
  • Knowledge (or ability to quickly learn) of HF, VHF and satellite communications equipment

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Team spirit and problem solving abilities, and able to carry out limited, un-supervised tasks.
  • Drivers must display an attitude and behavior that reflects well on both themselves and the IRC

Language Skills:Fluency in Arabic and English required.

Working Environment:

The IRC is providing Primary health Care services to the Syrian Refugees and vulnerable Jordanian communities in Mafraq and Ramtha through fixed clinics and a Primary Health Care facility in Zaatrai refugee camp. The IRC started Reproductive Health care service delivery at Azraq refugee camp in 2017. This position will be primarily based in the IRC health facility in Azraq refugee camp but will also provide the required services in other locations including but not limited to Mafraq, Ramtha, Irbid and Amman when needed. The security situation in the IRC intervention areas is generally calm and the security department of IRC shares regular security updates to keep the management and staff informed about the new developments.
