Your team

Within the Network Management Directorate, the European Aeronautical Information Management Unit is in charge of managing the Europeoan AIS database. This entails the following functions:



  • Oversight management of outsourced EAD systems and services, encompassing:


    • Provision of IT services;

    • Provision of data operation services;

    • Maintenance and evolution of application software;


  • Management of aeronautical information/data:


    • Availability and completeness of aeronautical and airspace data required for delivery of Network Management functions;

    • Development of guidance material related to harmonisation and consistency of aeronautical and airspace data;

    • Implementation of ICAO initiatives and SES regulations affecting information/data management;


  • Management projects directly related to:


    • Information/data management;

    • Interoperability and data quality requirements in order to stay compliant with EC and ICAO regulation (e.g. ADQ IR);

    • Development of the successor to EAD, eEAD;


  • Safety and security management i.e. ensure that all safety and security management issues are identified, mitigated and controlled at Unit level.


Your role

The successful candidate will perform the following tasks under the responsibility of his superior:



  • Initially, as part of a project for implementation of eEAD, be responsible for:


    • Business requirements analysis and business process modelling;

    • Providing assistance for high level architectural design;

    • Coordinating with business analysts and solution architects to facilitate the production of the overall implementation and test plans;

    • Providing assistance in the maintenance and evolution of the current EAD and analyse how these requirements and evolutions can be integrated in eEAD in the most effective manner;

    • Any other technical assistance in the eEAD project falling within their competences;


  • When eEAD is operational, to provide support in the oversight and coordination of the maintenance and evolution of the eEAD systems and services subcontracted to industry partners according to defined maintenance and support contracts:


    • For maintenance, the coordination of preventive, corrective and adaptive maintenance services;

    • For evolutions, the coordination of sub-system enhancements in order to modify sub-system functionalities or to add more functions, and the definition and coordination of software release content, sub-system development and verification until delivery of sub-system readiness declarations;


  • To perform any other task in line with the main purpose of the job

Required qualifications, experience & competencies


  • Completed university studies of at least 3 years or equivalent professional experience in IT

  • In addition to the above, minimum 1 year of relevant working experience.

  • Experience in business requirements analysis and business process modelling

  • Knowledge in the domain of Aeronautical Information Management and Services

  • Experience in project management

  • Drafting skills (English)

  • Communication: Fosters two-way communication

  • Teamwork: Displays a collaborative approach

  • Managing change: Supports the change process

  • Analytical thinking: Analyses information and identifies relationships

  • Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment

  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular post, thorough knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of other EUROCONTROL official languages would be an advantage.

  • At the closing date of the notice of competition, internal candidates must have completed their probationary period.

  • The selected candidate will be offered a contract of 3 Year(s) pursuant to the provisions of the Conditions of Employment of Contract Staff at EUROCONTROL. The contract may be renewed. Before being established in the post, he/she will be required to provide certified copies of his/her degrees and successfully serve a probationary period of 9 months.

  • The successful candidate shall be appointed in principle at the basic grade of the advertised grades.
