Collaboration Advisor – Communities (f/m)

Location: International Office, Innsbruck or Vienna/Austria

SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 135 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year.

Mission

Communications and Brand (C&B) brings together external communications and brand to service member associations, functional areas of the General Secretariat (GSC), external partners and media. It provides expert advice and guidance in terms of multimedia content production, marketing and communications strategy (especially digital), creative direction, brand identity development, management and strengthening. C&B is a multicultural and globally-dispersed department that creates and develops compelling communications that inform, engage and inspire people – from donors, partners and co-workers to media to governments – and enables a stronger drive from the organization on key programmatic and strategic topics

In this context the position supports and promotes effective collaboration and knowledge exchange within the SOS Children’s Villages federation, particularly through building awareness of and know how in collaboration and knowledge sharing and by contributing to the functioning, accessibility and continuous further development of our global collaboration tools and services

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Manage the collaboration community, a network of colleagues engaged in coordinating/promoting good collaboration and knowledge exchange within the GSC and/or amongst Member Associations. To build collaboration and knowledge sharing capacity and know-how and create standards on collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Make recommendations for the improvement of the collaboration platform based on user needs to ensure that the platform continues to improve and become more user friendly
  • Manage collaboration knowledge base / workspace (articles, templates, videos, discussion boards etc.) to provide users with resources to improve their collaboration know-how
  • Manage the collaboration blog to create awareness of the importance of effective collaboration and how it can be achieved
  • Deliver regular collaboration webinars to share best practice on collaboration and knowledge sharing and thereby build capacity
  • Provide collaboration consulting to help teams & departments optimize their collaboration and knowledge sharing initiatives
  • Provide particular support to federation communications in support of internal and management communication activities, ensuring smooth integration of collaboration tools into the day-to-day work
Requirements
  • University degree in a relevant area in Social Science, business, organizational or people development with focus on knowledge sharing/ virtual communications/platforms or a relevant technical diploma with considerable experience in the subject area
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in internal communications with focus on knowledge sharing, people and/or organization development including some 3 years focusing on building virtual collaboration platforms and managing communities.
  • Experience in building and engaging networks and virtual communities including providing capacity building/user support and designing and delivering training concepts. Experience in writing engaging blog content relevant to the subject area would be desirable
  • Some relevant experience working with Microsoft O5 365 or similar tools would be an advantage.
  • Excellent proven ability in community management with an advanced knowledge working with content management systems.
  • Sound knowledge working with collaboration tools, ideally Microsoft products.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills including a strong ability in building networks and interest in working independently
  • Proven track record of writing skills, strong communication skills
  • Excellent languages skills in English both orally and in written form; German would be a distinct asset; knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an added value
  • Hands on mentality with excellent planning and organising skills and the ability to think strategically and drive innovation
  • Applicants must hold a valid Austrian working permit or be eligible to work within the EU
