The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until December 31, 2019. There are good prospects for an extension. The place of work will be Bentiu or Panyijiar, South Sudan. Taking the security situation into account, travel for work will be required.

As Head of Project you will coordinate, plan and implement, one of Welthungerhilfe's projects in partnership with the World Food Program (WFP), with the focus both on emergency assistance, as well as tansitional assistance. With your management and budgeting skills you will ensure good cooperation in a team of national and international experts and the correct use of funds. As a result, your project will improve food and nutrition security of the vulnerable population, mainly smallholder farmers and internally displaced people.

Your responsibilities

• You will manage all project relevant departmental supervision (monitoring, logistics, finance administration, etc.)
• You will coordinate with MEAL Department for the development of Monitoring & Evaluation plans and data collection tools.
• You will represent Welthungerhilfe towards external parties (Donors, Cluster meetings)
• You will prepare project proposals and reports, both internally and externally
• You will identify potential new interventions opportunities, and will initiate and contribute to the development of new concepts and proposals for the target area
• You will recruit and manage project staff
• You will act as security focal point for Welthungerhilfe in the programme area, to ensure security of staff, equipment and programme assets

Your profile

• You have successfully completed a university or polytechnic degree ideally in the field of development cooperation, livelihood, or nutrition
• You have more than five years of project coordination experience in carrying out emergency aid / livelihood / agricultural projects, ideally with WFP as a donor.
• You have proven management experience in leading a functionally diverse team
• You bring a high level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions
• You have a very good command of English
• Prior experience in South Sudan is an asset
