Community Health Facilitator (national position)

Malteser International (MI) is working in Myanmar since 2001, Malteser International currently employs more than 350 national staff in Rakhine, Shan and Kayin states, where our work aims at ensuring communities have access to primary health care services. We also offer comprehensive WASH and disaster risk reduction/climate change adaptation solutions, and provide relief after disasters. We strive to enable and empower the most vulnerable communities in marginalized areas through a participatory and sustainable approach.

 

In support of our work in Shan State, Myanmar, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Community Health Facilitator (national position)

As a Community Health Facilitator, you will be responsible to manage all day-to-day Health transactions of the Programs/projects to ensure effective program implementation within MI Health policies and procedures and donor requirements. Also you will assist the HE Supervisor in providing efficient Health management for improved ministry quality and achievement of overall organizational objective.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the delivery of an effective malaria intervention program, in accordance with national malaria control programme (NMCP) and Malteser International guidelines;
  • Ensure provision of technical assistance to ICMVs volunteer in identifying, screening and referral of patients suspected to have malaria, while strictly adhering to specific guidelines with NMCP;
  • Ensure the smooth set-up of mobile malaria screening along with Malteser International Malaria Nurses: preparation, hygienic set-up, patient registration and other preparation in the community;
  • Provide individual health education to malaria patients and their families as appropriate and specific to each case;
  • Assist other Malteser Health Team members in their activities in support of the health program.

Qualifications:

  • Languages: Local languages essential. Especially Shan or Lahu language.
  • High School Education Level or equivalent education;
  • Previous experience with a humanitarian organization (INGOs) in the region;
  • Teamwork (ability to work with multicultural and multidisciplinary team; bear in mind other priorities)
  • Ability to work independently in remote area;
  • Communication skills (capacity to listen and communicate in an effective, specific, positive way)
  • Flexibility (capacity to adjust to changes, willing to go beyond her/his job profile if needed)

Conditions:

  • Start date: April 1st, 2019
  • Duty Station: Shan State, Myanmar and its project areas
  • Duration of contract: 1 year (extendable) due to donor approval
  • Salary according to qualification and experience: 14th Month Salary & Health Insurance
  • Kindly note that this is a national position
