Community WASH Facilitator (national position)

We strive to enable and empower the most vulnerable communities in marginalized areas through a participatory and sustainable approach.In support of our work in Kayin State, Myanmar, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Community WASH Facilitator (national position)
As a Community WASH Facilitator, you will be responsible to manage all day-to-day WASH transactions of the Programs/projects to ensure effective program implementation within MI WASH policies and procedures and donor requirements. Also you will assist the WASH & Construction Supervisor in providing efficient WASH management for improved ministry quality and achievement of overall organizational objective.
As a Community WASH Facilitator, you will be responsible to manage all day-to-day WASH transactions of the Programs/projects to ensure effective program implementation within MI WASH policies and procedures and donor requirements. Also you will assist the WASH & Construction Supervisor in providing efficient WASH management for improved ministry quality and achievement of overall organizational objective.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the WASH construction Supervisor/Engineer under the project guidance to monitor and implement and follow-up of construction activities, applying highest standard in monitoring of construction works by contractor or community in order to safeguard high quality results of works completed.
- Monitoring and coaching and training to WUG and other WASH volunteers in their monitoring of water quality, construction and using of latrine, WASH awareness session to the community and schools.
- Identify training needs among community networks in order to improve water system maintenance skills.
- Collaborate closely with the Health team, Local authorities, governmental health staff, (I)NGOs on hygiene and sanitation campaigns and trainings in community.
- Keep a flexible approach to workload and time in supporting colleagues and the project in achieving its objectives.
- Carry out any additional tasks in accordance with the project proposal as reasonably requested by the Supervisor or Program Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Completed Grade 10 Standard or similar with additional training in relevant fields (Construction & WASH)
- 2-3 years’ experience with rural construction work including wells, water supply systems, RWCT, construction of buildings etc.,
- Excellent understanding of 4 cleans and transmission routes for bacteria and parasites lined to water, sanitation, and hygiene issues.
- Previous working experience with community work through INGO, CBO, LNGO or similar.
- Fluency skills in Myanmar and speaking Sagaw and /or Po Karen dialect used at project area. Working in spoken and written English is an advantage.
- Proved basic skills in operation computer and common applications like MS Word, Excel.
Conditions:
- Start date: April 1st, 2019
- Duty Station: Shan State, Myanmar and its project areas
- Duration of contract: 1 year (extendable) due to donor approval
- Salary according to qualification and experience: 14th Month Salary & Health Insurance
