Vacancy Announcement Number

Option one:

-       Fixed-Term Appointment for 3 years (applies to internal candidates on Fixed-Term contract only); including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need

-       Grade 12

-       Monthly salary 678.80 USD, plus Special Occupation Allowance of basic salary.

-       Contract Status: 3 years including 1 year of probation.

-       Other benefits include Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary paid by the Agency), and annual leave in addition to maternity, paternity and sick leaves. Dependency allowance is subject to eligibility.

Option Two:

-       Limited Duration Contract for 1 year (applies to external candidates and internal candidates on LDC); renewable; Appointment subject to funding confirmation

-       Band "E"

-       Monthly salary 780.60 USD.

-       Other benefits include medical insurance and annual leave in addition to maternity, paternity and sick leaves. Dependency allowance is subject to eligibility.

In Damascus Area, the post is located in the Area Office, reports administratively to the Area Officer and technically to the Field Maintenance Engineer.

Primary duties and responsibilities

••••••••••••• In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures:

(A) Coordinates and supervises the maintenance programme in the Area and reports on progress.

(B) Conducts comprehensive technical surveys of all Agency buildings, installations and infrastructure at least annually to determine maintenance requirements, priorities and quantities for maintenance contracts.

(C) Conducts periodic routine inspections of all Agency buildings, installations and infrastructure and takes necessary action in the case of essential maintenance requirements.

(D) Carries out contract administration duties as directed, including the preparation of bills of quantities, cost estimates for quantities and materials, specifications, interim and final payment certificates, etc.

(E) Responsible in coordination with the Field Maintenance Engineer for expenditure and cost control on all maintenance contracts in the Area.

(F)  Provides technical support and supervision as necessary and as directed to other Agency programmes, including the maintenance and construction of roads and camp infrastructure, the repair and reconstruction of refugees shelters, self-help projects, etc.

(G) Prepares work plans and periodic progress reports for maintenance and other engineering works.

(H) Provides technical advice and support both in relation to applications by residents for construction permits and their implementation.

•       University degree in Civil (or Structural) Engineering degree from a• University or College recognised by UNRWA
