ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), Regional Bureaux (RBs), and Headquarters (HQ). The Job holders report to a Head of the Unit, Chief or Information Technology Officer, or the designate.
At this level job holders are expected to take responsibility for completion of a range of processes and activities requiring interpretation of standard guidelines/practices. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other staff.

JOB PURPOSE

To deliver high quality technical support, system and data maintenance across a range of areas, in order to contribute to the effective delivery of IT services.To deliver high quality technical support, system and data maintenance across a range of areas, in order to contribute to the effective delivery of IT services.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the direct supervision of the IT Operations Officer and overall supervision of the Deputy Country Director, Support Services, IT Operations Associate will be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Monitor LAN/WAN against prepared baseline and take necessary preventive and/or corrective measures for any unusual activities.
  2. Configure, install and maintain IT infrastructure and systems i.e. switches, routers, firewalls etc.
  3. Maintain and oversee Active Directory related issues
  4. Plan for ICT system and equipment preventative maintenance and execute the plan accordingly.
  5. Review ICT equipment and recommend for replacement, procurement and deployment according to WFP corporate standards; Review and Prepare for obsolete equipment list and arrange for disposal as per Local Property Survey Board (LPSB) recommendation
  6. Prepare computer/ICT facilities for new staff members for the Country office, Sub offices and warehouses.
  7. Maintain and monitor servers and related IT services
  8. Provide IT support to end-users’ and resolve technical issues with operating systems, hardware, software and network connectivity. Escalate issues as needed; submit monthly incident report to the IT officer.

  9. Evaluate, recommend and implement ITIL best practices wherever applicable to improve IT business processes; participate in discussions one new/revised procedures and practices; Interpret and assess the impact of changes and make recommendations on follow up actions;
  10. Train and support users of technology and systems, such as audio/videoconferences, meetings, databases, registries, networks etc.
  11. Ensure data availability, integrity and continuity by taking backup, prepare for emergency preparedness and responses as per Business Continuity Plan.
  12. Ensure optimal radio network (HF & VHF) operations, through the implementation of standard operating procedures and the provision of guidelines and training to end users on radio usage and basic maintenance.
  13. Maintain and oversee PABX and related services.
  14. Monitor network and Internet availability, performance of ISPs in the Country and Field Offices report at the end of each month to IT Officer
  15. Collect requirements from end users and convert them to IT solution.
  16. Perform other related tasks as assigned.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: University degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering

Experience : At least Six years of progressively responsible job-related experience ininformation technology or telecommunications or information management, such as, WAN/LAN networking, operating systems, telephone services, radio unit, Active Directory, web design, registry or similar experience. Some experience in client support, such as, a Help Desk or User Support Unit, telephone maintenance services.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Bangla

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge on CCNA, MCSE, ITIL is required for the position.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

Knowledge on ITIL best practice, CISCO appliances, Microsoft Server 2012/2016, MS Exchange, MS Office 365, HF & VHF radios, PABX and virtualization preferable.
