The International Centre forMigration Policy Development (ICMPD) is an international organisation tasked with promoting innovative, comprehensive and sustainable migration policies. Policy Unit:

ICMPD is inviting all interested candidates to apply for a Communications and Policy Engagement Internship in the Policy Unit. The Unit was established in 2017 and is ICMPD’s institutionalhome for its policy analysis, engagement and advisory function. Ourapproach combines analyticalpolicy work with monitoring of migration policy trends and developments, provision of expert advisory services and thebuildingofnetworksandpartnershipsbothinsideandoutsideofICMPDthattogetheraimto improveandsupportbettermigrationpolicyandpractice.

The PolicyTeamofaround10 personsprovideon-the-jobtrainingforanaspiringprofessionallooking to obtaina first-handexperienceoftheworkingsofan intergovernmentalorganisationinthefieldof migrationpolicyanalysis.Specifically,thisinternshipprovidesanopportunitytohelpdevelopandgrow the Unit’s policy communications and engagement activities. The selected candidate will work with the Team in improving ICMPD’s outreach, visibility and PRon policy relevant products and engaging withkeypolicymakersintherelevantfields.Thematically,theinternshipwillcutacrossthemainfields ofworkofthepolicyunitrelatedtomigrationgovernance,internationalprotection,migrationcontrol, labourmigration, social cohesion and integration. The selected candidatewill thus also gain insight into policy relevant projects and understanding the needs of migration policy-makers and practitioners.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The selectedcandidatewill reportdirectlytoone of thePolicyAnalystsinthe team and work closely

withotherteammembersandtheHead ofUnit. S/hewill beresponsibleforthefollowingtasks: 1 Work withthe PolicyTeamon policyoutreachand communicationsactivitieswiththeaimto effectivelydisseminateresultsandproducts,ensurevisibility,promoteaccomplishments and engagewithpolicymakers;

Supportthe developmentandmaintenanceofthePolicyUnit’snewwebplatform,preparing and uploadingcontent;

Assist the Policy Team in the organisation of policy events, such as roundtables, webinars, meetingsandreportlaunches;

Preparematerialsandcommunicationsproductsandmessagesfordistributionthroughemail orotherchannelsofcommunication;

SupporttheTeam insocialnetworkingandsocialmedia, withfocusonTwitter; Contribute to the publication process by formatting documents and liaising with graphic designersasneeded;

Support the creation visual materials (e.g. social media posts, visualisations, graphs and infographics);

Researchandmonitorrelevantwebsitesandsocialmediachannelsasneededtofeedcontent intothework ofunit;

Contributetotheformulationof writtenpolicyoutputs,i.e.policybriefsorblogarticles; Contributetotheimplementationofday-to-dayprojectactivities.

Incumbent Profile:

A recentlycompleteduniversitydegreeorcurrentlyenrolledinaMaster/PhDprogrammeina relevantfield,preferablyintheareaofcommunications,socialmediaorpublicpolicy; Experience in websitemanagement,content creation, digital communications and working with social media –especiallyTwitter –and a good understanding of web analytics is highly desirable;

Excellentwritingandeditingskills;

ExcellentoralandwrittencommandofEnglish,proficiencyinanothermajorEUlanguageisan asset;

Organisationalskillsandstronginterestineventmanagement;

Good timemanagementskillsincludingmanagingconflictingprioritiesandworkingwithtight deadlines;

AdvancedcomputerliteracyandpracticalexperienceusingMicrosoftapplications; Knowledgeofmigrationpolicyissuesisanasset;

Interestinworkinginamultidisciplinaryteamandinternationalenvironment; Excellentcommunicationskills,highmotivation,adaptabilityandflexibility. Compensation:

ICMPDoffersamonthlyfeeofEUR500,00, and willprovideaccidentinsuranceforthedurationofthe internship.However,travelexpenseswillnotbereimbursedandHealthinsuranceistheresponsibility of theincumbent.

TheinternshipdoesnotconstituteacommitmenttofutureemploymentwithICMPD.
