Justification

The Oxfam India’s education campaign plan is aimed at increasing people’s access to quality, universal and inclusive elementary education in the mainstream public education system. While within the civil society and at the government level, there have been discussions to extending the Right to Education Act to provide free education until higher secondary education. Oxfam India sees the coming year as a potential breakthrough moment which will see relatively greater political and media interest on essential services including health & education. This calls for a conscious effort to push for education issues in general discourse and work towards a continued engagement with the government both at the central and at the State levels.

The campaign focuses on efforts that are needed to undertake voter education, especially among first time voters on these issues.

A 3-day campaign design workshop was conducted to bring together Oxfam team and partners on March 5th, 6th and 7th, 2019 with representation from National RTE forum, State RTE forum from Oxfam India focus states (Bihar, Delhi Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and U.P) and few other education allies. As the outcome of the workshop, The National Right To Education Forum and Oxfam India planned to collaborate for Education Campaign starting April 2019 until July 2019

In this regard, Oxfam India is seeking an energetic, experienced and innovative person to coordinate campaign on education at the national and state level.
