Background

UNDP Solomon Islands Office is part of the UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji, which formally came into existence in April 2016, as a result of the realignment process of the former Fiji-based Pacific Centre and the UNDP Multi-Country Office. Amongst the programmes overseen by the UNDP Pacific in Fiji, UNDP Solomon Islands programme is the largest, averaging 6 to 7 million USD delivery per year. Following the realignment exercise of the UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji, the office in Solomon Islands is going through an exercise to better align the Sol component with the implemented Suva structure. 
In line with the programmatic focus of UNDP in the Pacific, the three programme units were created and is currently headed by the Team Leader: Effective Governance, Sustainable Development and Resilience, and Inclusive Growth. In addition, there is a unit dedicated to results-based management and communications. The unit leaders will be directly report to the Head of Office/Country Manager and working closely with the Team Leaders and members based in Suva on programme formulation, oversight and implementation, as well as policy advice and advocacy to meet the development needs of the Government and people of Solomon Islands. For Operations, the team in Solomon Islands  works through the Joint Operations Center based in Suva to ensure efficiency and compliance of administrative services. 
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Operations Manager, the ICT Associate provides leadership in executive of ICT service in the UNDP Solomon Offices including support to UN Common System which include UNWOMEN, UNFPA and UNICEF, implements ICT management systems and strategies, provides daily technical support to users of information management tools and technology infrastructure. The incumbent is responsible for review and advise on the use of new technologies that will enhance the Office productivity. The ICT Associate promotes a client-oriented approach and ensure timely and reliable support.
The ICT Associate works in close collaboration with the operations, programme and JPO teams in the CO and UNDP HQs staff for resolving complex ICT-related issues.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:University Degree in Computer Science would be desirable, but it is not a requirement. 
Experience:With 3 years of relevant work experience are required. Experience in network administration and use of hardware/software, telecommunications facilities, knowledge of database packages, experience in web design.
Language Requirements:Fluency in English and language of the duty station
