Introduction
Art and Abolition (A&A) is a non-profit organization that exists to heal, protect and empower young girls in Nairobi, Kenya who have survived sexual violence as a result of poverty. We are currently seeking an energetic, reliable and extremely organized self-starter to assist with our communications and administration, including assisting us in the design of our new communications strategy. The selected candidates will have the opportunity to learn and understand the inner workings of our small but passionate grassroots organization, as well as meet the girls in our programs and see our creative arts therapy camps in action.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Keep the Art and Abolition community up to date with on-ground activities by preparing and disseminating monthly newsletters.
- Manage Art and Abolition’s social media handles by building the online community and creating and posting interactive content on a daily basis.
- Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos, newsletters, and emails.
- Assist in developing and implementing A&A’s communications strategy
- Information management including maintenance of electronic and hard copy information and filing systems and inventories
- Conduct basic book-keeping under the supervision of the Program Manager.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments and travel arrangements for staff including weekly staff meetings.
- Take minutes of staff meetings or any other meetings in attendance.
- Provide general administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning, faxing and copying.
- Other duties as required.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Swahili is an added advantage.
- Have an excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft office suite programs and G-suite applications.
- Be conversant with major social media sites and have a good grasp of how they work. Experience in handling social media accounts for non-profits is an added advantage.
- Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or at minimum, be in the final academic year of such a degree in relevant areas such as communications, journalism, international relations, international development, public administration, business administration or another related field.
- Demonstrated experience in communications and business administration
- Desirable: Demonstrated experience in working with a communications strategy for NGOs and/or small organizations.
