Functional Responsibilities

The interns shall be placed within Project Management or Human Resource or Support offices, according to their training and experience, and will provide support in the following;

The intern shall report to the Head of Programme or Head of Support Services or their designate.

Generic roles:

Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing and contribution to product/process efficiency, focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Support compliance and process efficiency initiatives;
  • Contributions to knowledge management projects;
  • Provide suggestions for policy improvements;
  • Provide input to the development and maintenance of corporate systems and tools.

HR support responsibilities:

  • Assistance in long listing and short listing;
  • Assistance with the administration of written assessments;
  • Administrative and logistical support to general recruitment processes;
  • Support in the participation in interview panels and minutes taking;
  • Support to outreach efforts.

Project management support responsibilities:

  • Support in the preparation of project reports; 
  • Support in the maintenance of project files, including internal and external project reports;
  • Support in the management of information flows and oversee change controls, risk registers and issue management by establishing document control procedures;
  • Support management of assigned delivery of work packages;
  • Support in the coordination and liaise with the Project Managers on the implementation progress;
  • Support in the monitoring of any deviations from the plan and update plans;
  • Support the project in the identification and management of risks;
  • Support service functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations) as may be required   

Project monitoring and reporting

  • Support the Projects in the preparation of project reports and documents;
  • Maintain the following records: Quality Register, Configuration Item Records and all other registers/logs delegated by the Projects;

Stakeholder management, coordination and liaison

  • Support the coordination and management of communications in the field;
  • Participate in meetings as required.
Engineering

  • Support in the invention, design, analysis, building and testing of systems, structures and materials to fulfill objectives and requirements while considering the limitations imposed by practicality, regulation, safety and costs.



Education

  • Applicants who have completed their course work or graduated within the last 3 years in Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Management, Human Resource or other relevant degree.

Languages

Fluency in written and oral English is required.

This internship is not designed to lead to a staff/ICA position with UNOPS. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.

Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend  from UNOPS provided that they do not receive funds from other institutions. Interns must make their own arrangements for accommodation and travel to and from the office.
