ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING

The primary objective of the Programme Department is to create the conditions, platforms and environment through which religious leaders and other actors, in particular policy makers, can engage in constructive dialogue, thus strengthening mutual understanding and respect with the ultimate aim to encourage them to initiate action to bring about change in the policies of religious institutions and governments, at various levels, build mechanisms to facilitate ongoing dialogue and action as well as strengthen networks of committed and experienced religious leaders, and other actors in the use of interreligious (IRD) for peace and reconciliation in conflict situations in particular.

The Dialogue Knowledge Hub (DKH) team focuses on gathering, producing and disseminating knowledge about IRD, the relevant activities and IRD organizations worldwide, providing for an interactive, web-based hub, which will include databases, informative e-tools for IRD dialogue (e.g. bibliographies, webographies, facilitated virtual platforms, etc.), as well as educational e-products on IRD (e.g. online courses, webinars, thematic fora, etc.).

DKH is looking for a Moodle Administrator who will be responsible for customizing and supporting the Moodle platform (Moodle/LAMP) for online courses.

FUNCTIONS

Under the supervision of the Senior Programme Manager, DKH and in close collaboration with the IT Officer, the selected candidate will provide:

  • Technical support
    • In collaboration with IT staff, configure, administer, maintain, update and document the Moodle environment.
    • Monitor the security and ensure stable performance, providing advice on technical improvements to Moodle as needed.
    • Collaborate with IT Team to ensure the Moodle site is backed up and expired content is removed regularly.
    • Stay current in Moodle upgrades, add-ons, and plug-in improvements to enhance course development and delivery.
    • Participate in the initiation and completion of projects involving the Moodle environment.
    • Maintain the Moodle server to assure the DKH team have an area in which to create new and adapt existing online courses.
  • Site Administration and courses contents
    • Provide support and maintenance of the Moodle environment, including support student access, setting up course pages, and maintaining categories and course pages.
    • Implement theme changes in collaboration with DKH staff.
    • Assist DKH in updating course pages and syllabi.
    • Manage the Moodle Repository for institutional archive of course work.
    • Work collaboratively with instructors and staff to build and maintain support materials in Moodle, such as orientations, resources pages, etc.
    • Respond to inquiries and requests from users for Moodle-related assistance as escalated through the support process.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, instructional design, or another related field of study. 
  • Three or more years of experience with administration, development and customization of Moodle in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with installing, configuring, and managing Moodle learning management systems and knowledge of relevant security requirements.
  • Experience in web development including HTML, PHP, JavaScript/JQuery, and CSS.
  • Experience with configuring, administrating, tuning for performance and securing LMS-related applications, including Apache, NGINX, MySQL/MariaDB, Linux (Ubuntu) and PHP.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects with varying priorities. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. 
  • Ability to work in a team situation with remote members 
  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate collaboration with partners in international time zones 
  • Availability for project phone calls/online meetings in the early morning and late evenings to accommodate worldwide time differences.

TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT

The Consultant shall provide the Services on an “as and when required”. The Centre does not guarantee any minimum level of business to the Consultant.  The Consultant shall be able to provide the Services remotely, i.e. from his/her location.

If, on exceptional basis, the Consultant is requested by the Centre to travel to Vienna for the purpose of performing the Services, the Centre will cover travel and lodging expenses according to its internal procedures.
