The Department for Skills and Labour Market identifies current and future job needs and the skills they require. The work of the Department supports the design of well-informed education and employment policies and also helps career guidance services to advise to make better education and career choices. As Head of Department for Skills and Labour Market, you will have the opportunity to shape and steer innovative research such as big data analysis of online job vacancies, EU-wide surveys on Skills and Jobs as well as a regular pan-European employment forecast. You will also support the EU Governments and other national stakeholders to develop their own capacity to keep track of labour market trends, anticipate skill needs and use the results for policy-making. You will guide and motivate the Department’s staff (currently 15 staff members) and manage an average annual budget of EUR 1.3 million. In this position you will report to the Executive Director’s Office. Key responsibilities: • shape the Department’s work programme, in collaboration with the Department’s experts and the Executive Director’s Office, and monitor its execution to ensure achievement of expected results; • be responsible for the management of human resources and the coordination and coaching of the Department’s staff to ensure that it is motivated and delivers to high standards; • be entrusted the financial resources of the Department, plan and manage budget and ensure sound financial management of resources; • contribute to Cedefop’s strategy and multi-annual objectives by defining the Department’s strategy and objectives; • support the efficient management of Cedefop and collectively work with other managers to shape the Agency’s strategy and internal policies; • travel across the EU to represent Cedefop and present the Department’s work to external audiences of a variety of stakeholders, thereby promoting Cedefop work and image.
