How can you make a difference?
You will be joining a team of around 3000 staff in the Lebanon Field Office working to foster the human development of registered Palestine refugees.••
The •main responsibilities include:
• Supervises sanitary services for UNRWA installations and recognized refugee camps as per UNRWA's established environmental sanitation programme;
• Implements technical directives from the Field Sanitation Officer regarding sanitary facilities, e.g. refuse collection and disposal, insect control, etc. and reports on progress with appropriate comments and recommendations;
• Established and develops relations with local and municipal authorities on environmental sanitation matters as may be required or directed by the Field Sanitation officer;
• Supervises staff of the sanitation activity and provides them with guidance to ensure proper job performance;
• Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
Conditions of service•
Option One: Fixed Term Appointment, Grade 08,
Monthly basic salary L.L •1,608,892
Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable).
Option Two: Limited Duration Contract (LDC- Band C)
Monthly basic salary L.L 1,685,320 – 2,195,510 depending on the professional knowledge and experience.
Other benefits include compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave pre-rated to the duration of the contract where less than one year, and family allowance (if applicable).
To qualify for this position, you will need:
Education
Successful completion of secondary education.
Successful completion of a course in environmental sanitation or public health of at least one year duration.
Work
experience
At least two years' experience in supervisory work in camp or rural community.
Language(s)
Good Knowledge of English and Arabic; written and spoken.
You will also need to demonstrate the following competencies:
1- Ability to plan, distribute and manage environmental health services and problem solving skills
2- Very good communication and negotiation skills, with good working relationships with others in team environment;•••
3- Ability to work under pressure and cope with a heavy workload.
4- Ability to make the technical assessment for the environmental health needs, preparation of bill of quantities.
Additional Information:
Willingness to drive an UNRWA vehicle in the performance of his duties, as required.
