Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst Consultant

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are seeking to fill a consultancy position of Security Operations Centre (SOC) Analyst based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy.

The Technology Division (TEC, formerly known as IT) is the digital business engine of the World Food Programme, providing the business with multi-pronged and resilient technical capabilities able to respond with the immediate agility required in conflict zones on the one hand and with the longer-term stability to cope natural disasters on the other. In 2019, TEC Division will increase its activities to meet the constantly growing demand from the business and the field operation, and implement the initiatives related to digital transformation.

Under the general supervision of the Chief TECI and the direct supervision of the Head of Risk & Security, the incumbent will assist the team with day-to-day cyber security operational support, documentation and administration. The incumbent shall provide support to the TECI’s corresponding teams in carrying out activities related to monitoring for and investigating potential cyber incidents within the WFP infrastructure.  The incumbent shall also be engaged in various additional aspects of the cyber-security threats analytical activities on operational level.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor WFP environment for potential cyber incidents using available tools and telemetry, including but limited to Microsoft security consoles, BitSight, and Splunk, along with support from UNICC cSOC service;
  • Provide Tier 3 investigation and analysis for potential cyber incidents as identified by UNICC using available tools and telemetry;
  • Support tickets routed to Information Security Branch (TECI);
  • Represent TECI with Change Management on RFC proposals related to Active Directory, IAM, Endpoint activities;
  • Assess and respond to requests for non-standard access;
  • Support analysis of suspicious emails and request appropriate remediation with IT Management Service (TECM);
  • Contribute to TECI outreach opportunities, including providing content for presentations / WFPgo posts / email announcements and awareness training;
  • Perform any other related duty as required.

Qualifications & Experience Required

Education:

  • University Degree in computer engineering or an equivalent discipline

Experience:

  • At least three (3) of incremental experience in the areas of AD, Identity Management and/or Security and Compliance administration.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Microsoft security suite support, hardening, and governance;
  • Security approach to the Identity Management;
  • Skills in cyber investigation and analysis.
  • Successfully work on multiple work streams at once;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Customer-experience minded.

Language:

  • Fluency in oral and written English with an intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is desirable.
