Location: Mokha – responsible for West Coast

Authorization level: as per country scheme

Overall purpose of the role:

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Radio Operator will ensure the effective implementation and management of DDG’s Operations Room activities in the assigned area of operation. The Radio Room Operator is responsible for ensuring detailed communication tracking of DDG field teams and maintain communication related equipment in the Radio Room. He/She will provide communication support to all DDG field teams.

Responsibilities:

• General operations
• Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Radio Room operator will maintain and manage all communications to and from the field (maintain logsheet, contact lists, etc.)
• Ensure DDG field teams are reporting back as per DDG SOP/National Mine Action Standards in Yemen;
• Ensure to keep all daily/weekly movement plans up to date;
• Ensure that radio room is constantly manned when teams are active in the field;
• Ensure that all equipment is in good working condition and up to date (including radios, satellite phones and chargers, etc.);

  Technical Support:

• In collaboration with TFMs and Operations Manager, provide supervision and guidance to the DDG field teams regarding communications with radio room;
• Identify technical gaps in the procedures together with TFM and Operations Manager and solutions to address these gaps;

*Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Operations Manager.

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)

• Fluent in Arabic and English;
• Experience in radio room preferred;
• Good Arabic and English writing, reporting, and analytical skills;
• Experience in safety and security and/or mine action is an advantage;
• Good communication skills
• Team player;
• Reliable, responsible and organized.

Education:

Essential qualification

• Must be able to read and write
• Computer literacy
