IM works in six regions, including Central America, all over the world together with partners to strengthen democracy and to promote absolute equality. In each region, we have a regional office with the role of enabler, connector and catalyst for societal change based on a strong partner ecosystem and contextual respect and knowledge. Your role
As Regional Director it’s your job to lead the development of IM’s work in Central America, to inspire, listen to and guide your co-workers in Guatemala and El Salvador to perform to the best of their abilities. It is your responsibility to promote a conducive work environment and a culture of innovation. Your leadership is guided by the values and principles of IM and consistent with our strategic positions

You encourage your team members to live and embrace IM’s organisational culture, values and working principles (Growth mindset, Simplicity and Trust-based leadership). You are also responsible for the human resource development of the staff in Central America and the health, safety and security of the staff.

You report to the Head of Global operations at IM’s Head office in Sweden.

Your profile

  • You have a minimum of five years’ experience of development cooperation – preferably democracy and human rights
  • You have management experience
  • You exercise a trust-based leadership
  • You possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish

It’s a plus if you have

  • In-depth understanding of current political, economic, social conditions and historical context of Central America in general and El Salvador and Guatemala in particular.
  • Experience from work with different kinds of development actors (CSO, private sector, government, multi-laterals, etc.) and in Civil society organizations.
