Background
Duties and Responsibilities
- •Co-ordinates an initial review of all new TA proposals.
- •Leads on the preparation of TA proposals in Africa and provide input to the development of TA proposals in Asia
- •Coordinates TA lessons learned
- •Provide Technical advice on the implementation of Technical Assistance Proposals in Africa including supporting identification of consultant(s), providing technical advisory input, and supporting in country workshops.
- •Monitor implementation of TA’s and coordinate reporting to ensure it feeds into the broader PEA global framework.
- •Collate reports from the TA’s ensuring they contribute to the PEA global reports, UNEP Africa and UNDP Global Policy Centre reporting processes.
- •Support in packaging and communicating findings from technical reports to maximize policy impact
- •Provide technical advice and inputs on work plans and reports and ensure sufficient focus on poverty and gender
- •Technical Support to the preparation of workshops, project board meetings as well as documenting key achievements.
- •Support to integration PEA objectives in UNCT processes e.g. UNDAF/UNSDCF etc.
- •Coordinate inputs from PEA country projects in Africa to global PEA and UN Environment reporting and monitoring requirements.
- •Monitor work plan implementation and provide guidance when needed, through progress reports, regular communications and in-country support missions.
- •Coordinate engagement with donors to update them on PEA and supporting and helping draft submissions to donor working groups.
- •Provide technical inputs for gender integration into PEA workplans and technical products for the Africa region
- •Coordinate and promote collaboration with UN Women, UNDP and UN Environment Gender teams, including for further activities re the cost of the gender gap and climate smart agriculture.

Required Skills and Experience
- An advanced degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in environment, development or other relevant fields.
- Minimum Eight (8) years’ experience in international development and/or environmental management, with at least 3 years’ experience with poverty-environment mainstreaming.
- Demonstrated competence in analysis and mainstreaming of gender issues as a key component of poverty-environment mainstreaming
- Demonstrated experience with working with Planning/Finance ministries on poverty-environment mainstreaming
- Demonstrated experience in working in the UN system, preferably with a range of UN agencies
- Demonstrated experience with results-based management and reporting
- Excellent demonstrated verbal communication and writing skills in English.
- Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
