Organizational Setting

The position is located at the FAO Representation in Georgia. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by the FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

National Deputy Project Coordinator shall operate under the overall guidance and responsibility of the FAO Representative in Georgia; direct supervision of the National Project Coordinator and in close collaboration with other international and national consultants of the EU funded projects in Georgia, and more concretely the UNJP/GEO/013/EC.

Technical Focus

Day to day management of project activies.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Assist Project Coordinator in day to-day management of the project;
  • Coordinating/communication with parties to ensure activities/programs are being carried out as per the approved work plan;
  • Participate in field visits, assure compliance, review the status of project activities, and project implementation on the ground. Prepare field visit reports, with analysis of the agronomic component and suggest recommendations if required;
  • Provide inputs to consultants (national and international) to ensure their reports meet the deadlines and requirements;
  • Finalise technical documents from the outputs received from local and international consultants;
  • Assist Project Coordinator in Project monitoring and evaluation, including the delivery in terms of funds and expected outputs of the project as per the Monitoring and Evaluation System.
  • Assist Project Coordinator in preparation of annual reports, including the narrative and financial components;
  • Preparation of Power Point Presentations;
  • Provide substantive support and input to project team in conducting project, working group and other meetings through organization of meeting, recording of minutes and report writing;
  • Any other duties as required
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
  • Advanced university degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics and business or in a related field;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience;
  • Fully proficiency in English and Georgian
  • Good IT skills (MS Office-Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Intranet, e-mail applications etc)
  • Nationals of Georgia

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in working in development projects will be an asset
