Organizational Setting

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Pakistan focuses its efforts on poverty reduction, food security, sustainable livelihoods and rural development. FAO has partnered with the Government of Pakistan on research and development, training, extension services and strengthening of the staff capacity in planning and policy making. FAO has supported improvements in agricultural policy analysis, strengthened institution, enhanced integrated area development and expanded participation of marginalized and vulnerable communities in sustainable development.

Reporting Lines\:

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative; and direct supervision of Assistant FAO Representative-Programme (AFAOR) and the National Project Coordinator, the incumbent will undertake the tasks outlined below\:

Technical Focus

Design and develop an implementation plan on the agricultural water management aspects of the national water policy of Pakistan based on primary and secondary research including workshops.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Contribute to stock taking study/longitudinal analysis assessing previous government initiatives vis-à-vis agricultural water management
  • Conduct thorough primary and secondary research for the stock taking study including conducting semi structured interviews
  • Collate findings emanating from primary research that will feed into the stock taking study
  • Facilitate report writing highlighting the main findings from the stock taking study
  • Plan and organize workshops as part of the project to secure feedback from relevant stakeholders for developing the implementation plan on agricultural water management aspects of the national water policy of Pakistan
  • Assist the technical consultant on designing and developing the implementation plan on the agricultural water management aspects of the national water policy of Pakistan
  • Ensure all programmatic protocols and standards are followed throughout the implementation of the project

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
  • Advanced degree in public policy or related field in agriculture water policy and governance
  • Fluency in English and Urdu
  • National of Pakistan

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Strong command over spoken and written English;

  • Having knowledge of United Nations and International Organizations’ administrative policies and procedures including code of conduct, sexual harassment
  • Strong communication skills, and strong spirit of teamwork

  • Experience in the field of agriculture water policy, design and governance
  • Experience working with UN agency or similar INGO
