Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Representative and the Gender Specialist, the national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support in the formulation of country programme documents, project documents, reports and action plans related to promotion of gender equality, women’s empowerment and combatting gender-based violence in Egypt;
  • Support in the formulation of strategic concept notes and UN Joint interventions pertaining to the mandate of UNFPA in combating violence against women and girls in Egypt;
  • Prepare analytical and regular project briefs and progress reports for UNFPA’s gender portfolio as required;
  • Assist in the coordination and reporting on the implementation of UN Joint Programme on the Essential Services Packages in Egypt;
  • Assist in the provision of capacity building to national counterparts on the promotion of gender equality according to the national women’s empowerment strategy 2030 and the global guidelines adopted by UNFPA;
  • Support UNFPA in mainstreaming gender equality and combatting all forms of violence against women through other technical support interventions;
  • Support the coordination and collaboration with other professional colleagues and UNFPA programmes to establish and develop strategic interventions and implementation of joint activities, effective reporting and leverage resources to ensure gender mainstreaming and the empowerment of women and girls with the direct support of the Gender Specialist;
  • Support the effective implementation of interventions of the GBV Coordination Unit with focus on providing close monitoring on the implementation of activities, reporting and field visits;
  • Analyze and research information on donors, prepare substantive briefs on possible areas of cooperation, identification of opportunities for cost-sharing;
  • Assist in preparation of needed budget reports including faceforms, reporting on expenditures and planning for quarterly advance requests for relevant partners.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Gender Studies, Political Science, Sociology, or relevant degree;
Required experience: 60 Months Experience remark:
  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in project management support, reporting, or development;
  • The candidate must have very good knowledge of a range of Gender, Human Rights and Rule of Law issues, capacity building and training experience, and practice in project drafting and management is an advantage;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Gender Studies, Political Science, Sociology, or relevant degree;
  • Previous experience with UN agency/ international development partner is an asset.
Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Arabic(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
