Food Security, Nutrition and Livelihood Field Officer (m/f/d) - National position
Malteser International (MI) is working in Myanmar since 2001, Malteser International currently employs more than 350 national staff in Rakhine, Shan and Kayin states, where our work aims at ensuring communities have access to primary health care services. We also offer comprehensive WASH and disaster risk reduction/climate change adaptation solutions, and provide relief after disasters. MI strives to enable and empower the most vulnerable communities in marginalized areas through a participatory and sustainable approach.In support of our work in Kayin State Myanmar, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Food Security and Livelihood Field Officer (m/f/d) - National position.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and ensure effective, efficient and timely implementation of food security and livelihood project according to target indicators as described in project log frame and proposals
- Carry out regular field visit and provide technical guidance on the implementation of home gardening, livestock production and organization of the village savings group
- Analyze village needs and situations of Kayin villages and provide recommendations and input to set up savings and income generation activities
- Establish and maintain good relationships with partners in both Government Agriculture and Livestock Department and the KNU counterpart department
- Provide guidance and technical support to project team and partner agencies in implementing activities in order ensuring compliance to project log frame and proposal; in adherence to Malteser International standards and policies
- Provide accurate and timely project on monthly basis according to Malteser International guidelines and standards
Qualifications:
- Qualified professional with previous work experience (minimum two years) in business or entrepreneurial development, preferably with experience in implementing / organizing Village Savings Fund and livelihood program in Myanmar
- Can develop and test business strategies and concepts adoptable for Kayin villages
- Strong in advocacy, community mobilization and marketing the importance of savings and financial literacy
- Ability to ensure supportive supervision, data collection and reporting
- Good communication skills and ability to facilitate training
- Ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines and ensure staff coordination
- Ability to organize and conduct training and proper utilization of IEC materials
- Willingness and ability to work and live in rural areas with challenging living conditions
- Good knowledge of English and National Myanmar; knowledge / ability to speak local Karen (Sagaw) dialect will be an asset
Conditions:
- Start Date: February 2020
- Duty Station: Kayin State, Myanmar and its project areas, Myanmar
- Duration of contract: 12 months (extendable) due to donor approval
- Salary according to qualification and experience: 14th month salary & health insurance
