Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent supports the effective and efficient management of the project through a range of actions contributing to the design, planning, management and monitoring of project activities. Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Project Manager or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Project Officer will:

  • Maintain close dialogue with partners including government institutions, the United Nations, donors, CSOs, academia and private sector for field coordination, communication and partnership development;
  • Follow up activities and provide guidance and information to implementing partners consistent with the project document and related frameworks;
  • Organize and support project’s activities, meetings and events in the field;
  • Support and organize field visits and missions including logistics and programme arrangements;
  • Prepare regular briefs and reports about project activities and results and contextual background and developments to UNDP Country Office, PMU and relevant partners and stakeholders;
  • Draft reports, stories and communication materials and liaise with Communication staff for timely communication of project’s activities and results;
  • Identify and engage with relevant partners and service providers and for the due implementation of project’s activities in the field.
  • Ensure the timely and efficient implementation of Project activities;
  • In partnership with the national counterparts, support the formulation of work-plans reflecting the scope of activities, timing, sequencing, cost and other inputs for the implementation of the Project activities;
  • Support in the production of regular progress reports and expenditures status reports to the Project Manager and UNDP Country Office;
  • Ensure the effective management of human resources pertaining to the Project at the provincial level, including both staff, consultants and short-term experts; build, lead and motivate a solid team of professionals;
  • Ensures that financial resources of the Project are managed in an efficient manner;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development or related areas;

Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:
  1. At least 02 years of work experience in project management and/or coordination with government institutions and/or the United Nations, CSOs and academia;
  2. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc)

Highly desirable:

  1. Previous work experience with government institutions, and/or CSOs, and/or UN agencies in the Province of Cabo Delgado.
Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
