The Women’s Forum for Development (WF4D) was established in 2021 by UNDP and the Agency for Gender Equality of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees. The Forum brings together women leaders, experts, activists, and practitioners, fostering intergenerational dialogue and strategic cooperation towards a more gender-conscious society.
As part of the Gender Equality Accelerator Joint Programme (implemented by UNDP, UN Women, UNICEF, and UNFPA), the WF4D is further strengthened through the development of a web platform. This platform will serve as a dynamic
The intern will support the Women’s Forum for Development (WF4D) platform within the Gender Equality Accelerator Joint Programme, with a specific focus on the development, maintenance, and promotion of the platform’s online presence. The intern will contribute to knowledge-sharing, content management, and visibility efforts, ensuring that the platform becomes an active hub for gender equality dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the intern will:
- Assist in content management for the WF4D web platform, including drafting, editing, and uploading articles, news, and event announcements.
- Support the preparation and dissemination of communication materials (posts, visuals, short updates) to enhance the visibility of WF4D and its activities.
- Conduct desk research on gender equality, women’s leadership, and related themes to inform platform content.
- Assist in the organization and documentation of WF4D events, consultations, and webinars, ensuring outputs are shared online.
- Monitor online engagement and propose ideas to improve the outreach and usability of the platform.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the WF4D team as required.
- Contribute to reporting and knowledge-sharing by drafting short summaries, success stories, or highlights of WF4D activities for internal and external use.

Familiarity with digital content management systems, online communication tools, social media tools, or basic web publishing;

Demonstrated interest in gender equality, social inclusion, women’s empowerment, or related human rights issues;

Basic design, multimedia, or digital storytelling skills (Canva, basic video/audio editing, etc.) are considered an asset;

Have a keen interest in the work of the UN and the UNDP and demonstrate a commitment to its statement of purpose and to the ideals of the UN;

Required Skills and Experience
Academic requirements:
a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level) in social sciences;
b) Be enrolled in a Master degree programme;
c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
d) Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
Skills:
a) Fluency in any of official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian) , both written and spoken;
b) Good knowledge of English (written and spoken);
c) Computer literacy in standard office software applications;
d) Attention to details and ability to draft clear written materials;
Learnings
The intern will have the opportunity to:
- Gain hands-on experience in supporting the development and management of the Women’s Forum for Development (WF4D) online platform;
- Participate in in-house training opportunities, as applicable;
- Learn about the structure, mechanisms, policies, and practice areas of UNDP, with a particular focus on the Gender Equality Accelerator Joint Programme;
- Participate in dedicated trainings and UNDP online learning tools;
- Strengthen effective writing, research, and analytical skills through contributions to reports, online content, and knowledge products;
- Enhance communication and teamwork abilities through close collaboration with UNDP staff, gender experts, and external partners;
- Acquire practical experience in digital content creation, knowledge-sharing, and online community engagement;
- Gain exposure to the dynamics of multi-agency cooperation and civil society engagement in advancing gender equality.

Terms and conditions
- UNDP interns receive a monthly stipend to help cover costs associated with the internship. The stipend amount varies by duty station and may be adjusted based on whether the selected candidate receives financial support from a nominating institution, related organization, or government.
- UNDP does not assume responsibility for any costs arising from accidents, illness, or death incurred during the internship period.
- Internship duration must be a minimum of six weeks and may not exceed six months.
- Interns are expected to work full-time, although flexibility may be granted to accommodate academic or research commitments.
- Interns are responsible for obtaining the necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina), if applicable.
- The Internship Programme is designed to complement academic studies and professional development and is not intended to lead to employment with UNDP. As such, there should be no expectation of employment following the internship.
- Interns are not considered UNDP staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
